Swap PS5 for a RTX 4070?

It actually wouldn't surprise me if the Supers come in 50-100 USD more than the models they are directly replacing. But hopefully, it comes in at either the same price or even (wishful thinking) a lower price than the models they are replacing.

Regards,
SB
I fully expect the Supers to be more expensive than the current models (e.g. 4070 Super is more than 4070), but still cheaper than the models they are effectively replacing (4070 Super replaces 4070Ti). Not sure if I word that correctly. Anyway the $800 4070Ti with 12GB is probably the most egregiously priced GPU of this generation IMO, so at least we're doing away with that. It's crazy to be VRAM limited on an $800 card.

Some speculation on 4070 series,
believed they will be announced at CES on jan 8th. 4070 Super at $599 same 12gb more sm's and cuda cores. 4070 reduced to $499
4070ti reduced to $699. 4070ti Super $799 more sm's and cuda cores 16gb 256bit bus.
There will obviously be some delay between the announcement and availability.

Funny thing Youtube video is titled "It’s Official - RTX 40 Super Specs, Price, & Release Date" and then in the video he admits it's not official

A bunch of sites are reporting 4070 Super hits the shelves on 17th Jan, 4070Ti Super 24th Jan, 4080 Super 31st Jan

Not that it isn't likely accurate but I'm pretty sure they're all sourcing off the same Chinese forum, so it's not actually multiple independent corroborating sources.

The timeline does seem probable as you'd want to push it through before the Chinese New Year or wait until afterwards.

Looks like the 4070 super will use a 12VHPWR connector. If my psu doesnt have one of those is this what I would need to buy ?

The card will come with a adapter in the box.

I wouldn't touch a Cable Mod adapter after the recent recall of their 12HPWER adapters they did earlier this week.

But Akasa have a unique solution that I really like the look of.

know any other companies that make something similar to the cablemod adapter/extension?
edit: if an adapter comes in the box then i would just need a 12VHPWR extension unless its really long so the 3x 8pin isnt visible
had a look at Akasa's web site and looks like one of these would be ideal

I do on Etsy, but they're custom orders and can take a few weeks.

I doubt it will be 3x 8 Pin as my 4070ti only requires 2x 8 Pin.

You will get an adaptor in the box.

Yep, these Super models are cheaper than the regular models so expect a sale of regular models now.

Which should also force AMD to drop their prices as well.

4070ti and 4080 are now also EOL.

The price of the 4070 now suggests the significantly higher core count on the 4070 Super isn't that much of a benefit.

adapter supplies with the Zotac 4070 super

same for the 4070ti super
the zotac 3fan model also comes with a support bracket (is it needed ?)
the site I posted prices from also now has 3 4070 Super asus models and they are £719

I think it will be pretty beneficial. Makes the 4070 look like a poor deal even at $550. Which is probably intentional.

I do see that the 4070 Super is reported to have 36MB L2 vs 48MB on the 4070Ti. Really wanna know if that's true and if so how it impacts performance.

This I don't get about the pricing. If they want to make the Super look better, why still sell the 4070? If they have that much stock still, possibly more on the way, then wouldn't you make it $499, maybe $529?

It's the same as the regular 4070, so unless the smaller cache is unable to feed the additional CUDA cores, I just don't see the perf difference that small to make the 4070 a viable product.

Yea I still expect the 4070 Super to be closer to the 4070Ti than to the 4070. But it will be interesting to see how much it loses from having 25% of the cache removed. With wafer prices so high it's an odd decision to put so much cache that isn't necessary and now won't be included in any products (4070Ti is EOL).

and with nvidia pushing 4070 ti super for AI stuff (due to 16GB of VRAM)... yeah... supply will still be constrained, thus wont push non supers price down.
