Bought the entire X-series gold pack -- mostly I wanted to play X3:TC but I'm trying to decide if I should just start from the "beginning" and work my way through.

I've never found the patience to ride the learning curve for this series. Had grand ambitions of using it with my flight stick, etc. but never got there...let me know how it is and maybe I'll find the motivation to get back to it.

Hum.. I got myself a problem and I'm in need of help.

I purchased a couple of Saints Row IV keys from amazon.com and now it won't unlock in my country.
This came as a surprise because I bought several other games through this method and never had any problem.

But now Steam says that the keys I bought aren't available for my region. So I can't use these keys.
The internets tell me if I use a proxy there's this chance that my Steam account could get banned.

What is legal is for someone from the USA to redeem the keys and send them as gifts to me.

Soo.. any charitable soul from the USA willing to redeem the codes and send them to me as gifts, pretty please?

No problem. PM me.
I'm off to bed now so if nobody else has answered the call by morning, let me know.

I haven't heard anyone from being banned from using proxy to activate game, but if you want to be sure, get VPN to a country where you can activate it, that at least shouldn't lead to bans

They recently started banning people from trading or adding new games to their account. Not sure if one VPN activation is enough though.

I decided to try the honest approach.
Just sent an e-mail to steam support saying I can't activate that key that I purchased from amazon.com.
I sent them the copy of the receipt from amazon and all, telling them I have somewhat of a fixed address in the US where I commute to sometimes.

Now I'll wait and see..

I don't want to risk losing my account. That would be way too much invested money on the line.

Nonetheless, thank you for your support Mize.

Why not create a new (second) account to solely activate that game and then use the Steam Family and Friends Sharing feature to play it on your main account?

If you did not fake your location and have a valid localized account with Amazon, isn't it their responsibility to make sure it works for you? Or does the entry for the game on their site state US only somewhere?

The amazon page for the game does say it's just for the US.

I did not fake my address in the US. It's a valid one. But it's the amazon.com account that has a US address. My Steam account has my home (portuguese) address.

Having an account just for one game seems valid.. but I'd rather just have my money back from amazon and buy the game sometime later. I've got my hands full with all these Assassin's Creed games I've accumulated all these years and my coop time has Borderlands 2 and Colonial Marines (in my defence, I bought this last one for just $2).

I nabbed Orcs Must Die and the sequel from a Humble Bundle a few weeks ago, and just got around to them. Wow, much fun! The second one is basically the same as the first but with more stuff afaict, so I mostly skipped the first.

Coop is a friggin blast.

Thing is, I've yet to find a good use for more than about 3 types of traps. This is on the normal difficulty. Maybe some of the later maps will change this?

They're not going to help you I'm afraid.

Similar thing happened to me. Bought a bundle from GamersGate, it was meant for Europe customers. I was sent a NA one by mistake.

Contacted Gamersgate, was told to contact Steam, Steam told me to contact GG, they told me to try Bethesda etc.

In the end, I had to trade my key somewhere else.

The Testament of Sherlock Holmes is just $5 right now. This is the game I'm currently playing, about 10 hours in, and it's an awesome game for adventure game fans and fans of logic puzzles. Especially the puzzles, they are of various types and are all logical puzzles, not bizarre put the egg on the toaster while standing on one leg type of puzzles. I highly recommend this game even though sometimes I want to kick Sherlock Holmes in the teeth.

Some good Codemasters games available in the humblebundle weekly sale.

Operation flashpoint and some other version, Dirt Showdown and and Dirt 3, and the overlord games.

Picked up Kingdoms of Amalur... I did quite like the demo on 360, but... was too busy at the time.

Undecided on whether to repurchase the older Splinter Cell games (1-4) for steam. I do have them on disc somewhere. Bleh. Wonder if UBI would ever consider remaking them with a modern engine. :p

How are the Overlord games? Is the sequel worth getting too?

I recall playing the original Overlord on my roommate's X360 and it was very fun. I suppose it should be even better on PC.
