There was a time with Max Payne 3 when the Social Club stopped accepting many owners' serial numbers. Rockstar did some internal change to user accounts that invalidated a ton of keys. I emailed them and it took about a month to get going again. Real fast bunch of support folks there. Every Rockstar game on PC seems to end in frustration because of that Social Club bullshit. I tend to not like anything they make anyway so it's not a huge issue... ;)

Well, mother-F'er. Back to not being able to get past the synchronizing screen in LA Noire, who was the genius that designed this brilliant Social Club shite? How in the F, can you design something that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't work? WTF?

Regards,
SB

Lol, remind me GTA 4... sometimes it will boot the games past social, sometimes not ( offline or online ).. I have never understand what was happend.. you kill the process of the game, you dont do any change, just relaunch the game, and it pass then, if not the first time, the second time.

System SHock is on sale. Does system shock have graphics mods for it like Deus Ex and Doom3? If yes, I would like to buy this.

The only other game worth buying seems to be Mark of The Ninja !

I was tempted by Max Payne 3 and Dishonored, but In all likeliness I wouldn't have time to play them before the Christmas sale, so I'll probably pick them up then. If I see Far Cry 3 for under 15€, I'll get it.

Been there, uninstalled that.

Hmm.. Majorly tempted by Mark of the Ninja, torchlight 2 , system Shock 2 and Skyrim.

Dunno what to do ?

Has Skyrim gone below the $20 mark ever? Or is this the lowest?

Bought Mark of the Ninja and Torchlight 2 :D ! Will get System Shock 2 from gog instead, just like i got Deus Ex from there. Much prefer no DRM over steam.

Yup, I came very close to doing that as well, but found another workaround. Starting the launcher directly from the game folder in steamapps/common. Now we'll see how long this works until it stops working again. :p Hopefully, it won't stop working, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

I am sorry, its System Shock 2 thats on sale. Does it have gfx mods too? And anyways, is it a good game? Or is the first one better ?

It's essentially a hard sci-fi Bioshock but from 1999 so quirkier. I liked it a lot. There are mods indeed and Google is useful!

http://www.systemshock.org/ (as Davros said)

I would primarily get
http://www.systemshock.org/index.php?topic=4141.0. (Upgrades the engine so it works better)

And
http://www.systemshock.org/index.php?topic=22.0
(Makes textures more readable which is very much appreciated)

is it a good game?
Oh yes its usually in most top ten best pc games ever lists
be aware though it is a hard game especially at the start before youve got used to it coupled with typical rpg situation of you being very weak with no skills and terrible weapons

ps: I recommend turning off weapon degradation its over done imho

Bah, the weapon degradation is one of the best part of the game. It adds immensely to the air of desperation and horror as you work to maintain a working weapon to fend of potential enemies.

The game is far less interesting if you take that away.

I'm with Davros. Your pistol shouldn't break because you fired it 10x. Even Ken Levine admitted that the rate was too high/fast.

Seriously? They degrade weapons that fast? FYI, a standard 1911 .45 ACP can easily fire 1000 rounds between *cleanings* and, obviously, many, many times that before there is any damage.

Am I the only one who's really disappointed with this year's steam summer sales?

Except for a half a dozen of spectacular discounts on older AAA titles (Deus Ex: HR for 1,8€, Alan Wake for 2,8€, Arkham City for 5€), nothing really seems out of the ordinary..
All indies seem to have terribly high base price considering their low production values and they're not getting any discounts larger than 50%.
How come "Evoland" costs 3x more than Human Revolution, or as much as Arkham City?

And now they're putting lots of starter packs for free-to-play games in the front page, as if these were great deals.

I thought the best part last year was the publisher deals, one publisher each day.. and there's no more of that.

I don't know.. maybe my expectations were too high or maybe I got spoiled by better sales from GreenManGaming.
