Star Citizen, Roberts Space Industries - Chris Roberts' life support and retirement fund [2012-]

I meant zero-G withaout any kind of jet pack.

The player needs to be careful about movement because it is about inertia. He needs to be aware of where to push off and where to hold on and judge those movements. Because if he pushes off from one wall heading towards somewhere that is the way the player going until he hit another object or item.

There is a more planning about where to go.

For that they are developing procedural animations. So that the player can push off with hands and feet from all kind of objects.

That dead means nothing. Similar case in the most multiplayer games where the player get respawned in a few seconds.
Tell me how death means something ? how is having to wait a long time fun ?
You can enter an enemy spacecraft in space
No you cant
Or you want to plunder a vacant and eerie large spacecraft
you cant
Then you can drob with your colleagues on a planet and go into ground battles with various complex vehicles.
again you cant do that
t hat real Zero G gameplay
It doesnt, not in first person
You can lose your arm, leg etc. Which can then be replaced by cybernetics.
so you can do that 4 time's one for each limb, once they are replaced are they superior to your original arms and legs ? if so why not have them replaced from the get go
If you are seriously injured your friends can still save you.
so players can act like the medic in battlefield ?
Star Citizen is a first person universe. Everything can be done.
no it cant

I can understand that some players do not like that. But if the game is not demanding it's not fun. If death does not matter because I will be spawned 2 seconds after or there is every few seconds a checkpoint. This is not intense.

I highly recommend to read this to understand the death in Star Citizen: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/engineering/12879-Death-Of-A-Spaceman

No you cant
It will come with AC2 this year after Citizen Con. They merged the builds (gameDev) so that all stuff from Star Marine and Astro Arena will work in Arena Comander 2.0 (with multicrew ships).

That will be possible.

again you cant do that
That will be possible. There is no Activison, EA, Sony etc. which dictate to them how they have to make the game. This game is crowdfunded. A long as they make enough revenue after release they will improve more and more.

It doesnt, not in first person
Yes it does. Star Citizen is a first person game.

"Every “death” creates wear and tear on your body. Depending on where you were hit and how you died, your character may require a new body part, which can either be cybernetic or organic. Eventually after too many deaths, your character’s body will just give out, and instead of waking up in a med bay, you’ll be attending the funeral of your fallen character from the eyes of the beneficiary you specified when originally creating your character. If your old character has done something noteworthy (akin to an in-game achievement), his headstone might read “Here lies Chris, discover of the Orion 2 jump point, slayer of the Dread Pirate Roberts, and a Citizen of the First Order.”

Not if the player is seriously injured. Than they have to take the players body and bring it to a medic station or medic ship like the Cutlass red. Head shot = perma death.

Please read the link above.

no it cant
Soon ^^

It will be interesting when I can play Squadron 42 and it is fun. :)

What!!!
According to Jupiter it's fantastic. You can dogfight, then leave your ship engage in some zero g fps combat, then board another ship explore and find strange creatures. Then you can drob with your colleagues on a planet and go into ground battles with various complex vehicles. ;)

Ok, cool it with the slagging off of the guy, alright? So he's enthusiastic about the future of the game, is that a crime now, what? :p

X-Wing & Descent FreeSpace Veteran here, I'm ignoring Star Citizen until it's released.
It could degenerate into a scam, and currently released kickstarter games have been lukewarm, in my opinion.

Except for Divinity Original Sin. That thing rocked.
But mostly because they kept their focus and didn't blew up with feature-creeping.

Lefungus, you are aware of Freespace 2 open ?
personally I think the devs need for money will be the ruin of the game. I think they will add an economy and it will become micro-transaction hell.

That sounds amazing. I get home from work and kick back with a beer, take out my little $50 space nugget to make a future in the galaxy. Then get headpopped by a dude who spent 16 grand 3 years ago for the privilege of virtual godhood. SOLD!

Sorry Grall but it's too easy.

Yeah, I'm not interested in Star Citizen if I can't play it without some wanker in a big ship flying by and blowing up all my stuff. Catering to the PKer is just terrible game design IMO.

Jupiter I apologize, but you do need to be a bit more cynical otherwise a certain mr pitchford will try to sell you a really great looking aliens game ;)

No problem. But there is too much information which is why I have no doubt. The development is transparent. They are very interested in the criticism of the fans. They are aware of all the current problems in Arena Commander. I am very happy that there will be great space games again. And there is finally a PC exclusive game to show the limits of what is technically possible on high end hardware.
ArcCorp already looks very nice and no NPCs in date lead status (NPCs come and the graphics will be improved even further). A GTX 970 will be an entry card for the PU.

They will show the a portion of it on the CitizenCon. This will be impressive. If they finish the first single player game (Squadron 42) they will work on the second. Early backer like me will get the second game for free. A whole $60 AAA single player game! I hope that they will sell single player campaigns then for $50 each. People had a long enough time to pick up the PU with Squadron 42. Sometimes even for only $20. CIG needs revenue.

There is no scam. Have you ever been in one of their studios? Since everything is functional. No luxurious stuff or too much space. They try to be very economical. The contents last shown should have proven that they keep working hard. Nobody disappears with the money and making a beautiful life. Roberts is often working 7 days a week. His brother Erin says that Chris had never worked so hard and the last it unhealthy.

@Grall and

Sorry Grall but it's too easy.

It is all inherited by the next character.

Arena Commander shows that skill is more important. But of course, an entry-ship like a freighter version of the Auora will have a hard time against a Superhornet. There are also escape pods etc. To destroy these is a heavy felony. There will be laws. Who kill will be followed depending on the status of the system.

Ugh I keep telling myself not to come in here but its like one of those slow-mo carnage things that just keeps sucking me in...
I think they will add an economy and it will become micro-transaction hell.
Its already large transaction hell.

Better not turn into banditery simulator like DayZ and other such "survival" games...
Banditry simulator combined with large/micro transaction hell & lots of sitting around while the other guys do the playing immersion apparently.
