Sony VR Headset/Project Morpheus/PlayStation VR

unity has a special event streaming right now , may have some vr talk since there are constellation cameras on the stage

Eagle flight from Ubisoft is hitting all 3 platforms this fall . Game looks meh to me but some might like it

I'm sorry for wording it like that, but that's how it is; they simply delayed their motion controller solution do avoid direct comparison, and to keep Oculus fans / potential Oculus buyers in check.

I really wish you'd give it a rest with all this condescending talk of naive Oculus fans. I don't think there's a person out there right now that isn't in a position to cancel their OR pre-order and order a Vive instead at no financial loss if the feeling should take them.

Personally, although I've been tempted, I'm sticking with the OR pre-order for 2 simple reasons:

1. It's cheaper
2. Both the bundled games and the exclusive games appear to be better.

In terms of headset and handset quality they appear to be on par (Oculus may have the advantage in handsets from the comparisons I've read), it certainly appears that roomscale will be much better on Vive, and I love the potential for AR using the Vives front facing camera, but given I don't have much space for room scale, that's not enough to make me spend the extra money at this point and forgo those bundles/exclusive games.

yup for room scale , i'm hoping that support for omini and other types of treadmills take off because I don't have enough room for it.

Oculus and Vive target different audiences as well. Vive can work while sitting on a chair but the entire point of the Vive kit is not to do that. I'm waiting everything out on this one though, we won't know enough about the headsets before they actually get to consumer hands.

Not long to go!

I want more 1:1 translations of boardgames to VR. Sitting at the table, manipulating dices/figures/cards, all online with friends and good banter. :D

Interesting that Ubisoft is willing to probe VR with a variety of content while EA has stated they're going to sit out entirely on VR. Going to be a nice public business experiment to see play out: will early VR experimental dev work end up being money thrown away or will it pay off down the road? Not that EA's choice to ignore VR can/will kill them as a business or anything, but if there ever ends up being something analogous to a Mario/sidescroller-platformer or Doom/FPS where a platform defining IP, technology and genre gets established, I think it's pretty safe to say that you're not going to be the one to find it if you're sitting in the sidelines.

I wonder if someone will make an asymmetric multiplayer first-person dungeon crawler game where a person/people can build out a modular level with an editor while someone tries to make their way through it. Even something simple like a Zelda(1) dungeon map of rooms with a simple Excitebike/Wreckingcrew/MarioMaker editor where you create rooms, drag and drop keys, locked doors, powerups and enemies and then snap the rooms together. Something like that could even be a group social game if you could make the editor interface work via multiple tablets/phones.

edit:
Gary the Gull for PS Vr

I've had the chance to see a couple full VR animated shorts now - interesting concept, not sure how the dev-dollars per hours-used works out though given how little replay you get from a static animation. I also haven't seen any cost breakdowns on what it takes to produce them via UE4/unity/etc vs doing a traditional animation via the normal toolsets and a renderfarm. That might be a question for Laa-Yosh(?) or others with experience in animation to weigh-in on.

Eurogamer doesn't seem to be that enthusiastic.. any other liveblogs?

Come to think of it, the event would probably be live streamed if there was a price announcement. So either it's launching in Q3, the price is rather high... or.. there is no price at all.
If there is a price 249-339 is where it's at!

the verge blog will be even worse. But so far these are the only two I can find. If its not apple verge doesn't care lol
