Meh. . .no PS3 os updates - what about better media support? How about a decent media player? An updated web browser? Cloud integration that is actually worth paying for PSN+? How about the death of locked saves? How about fixing the store to include patches with downloads? The "welcome back" freebies should have made it obvious how broken Sony's patch system is to everyone downloading SDHD (260MB download + 260MB patch?) I am punished for having two PS3s (can't even copy a download from machine to the other, I have burn up my UBB allottment to do so). How about making the OS actually responsive (cache the bloody icons already)?
Their conference was basically games we already know about plus too much about a who cares handheld doomed in a market that only cares about phones and tablets.
I expect Nintendo to wipe the floor with both MS and Sony tomorrow which seems bizarro world.
IMHO of course.
Cheers

* PS3 is the most popular NetFlix client (contribute to NetFlix's 30% traffic) since it's "free"
What icon caches are you referring to ?
I think patch system can already take delta changes (like firmware update). But their release packaging is too primitive.

I think you're right, though only because expectations are so low!I think Vita is going to be a much bigger success than people expect.
Yeah, I'm in agreement. It's just games, rather than extending the platform. For a machine that "only does everything," the coverage was very one sided. That said, with a limited time limit I suppose that had to focus on one area. But they should have better service (voice chat), new browser, etc. to offer. I feel Sony are winding down PS3 progression.Meh. . .no PS3 os updates
Last Guardian has had a bit of media coverage of late, so that's understandable. Sorcery was supposed to be out already, a major title making the most of Move's immersiveness, and yet it's a complete blank. I am really pleased I staved off getting Move, as it's not offering me anything at the moment. Both Sorcery and Last Guardian are quiet.
LBP2 will be getting the Move support this SeptemberI think you're right, though only because expectations are so low!

Will have to check out some vids now...
This isn't Sony's fault but it is also pretty awful. The most common one limits each genre to 75 titles max, no queue for Canada, no complete genre list and suffers general unresponsiveness (check Netflix's Facebook site to see plenty of complaints). Netflix also accepts far too much disruption in their cloud services - this last month I have probably had "top picks" show up less than 40% of the time and have experienced multiple Netflix outages. That said, I would have loved to have had Sony offer something to compete along similar lines (a video Qriocity). The existing PSN video store sells stuff at porn prices and almost seems like it was designed to encourage piracy (crazily priced, restrictive DRM, no extras, dubbed anime, etc.)
I am referring to the lack of them. Every time you enter the XMB you are locked to spinning recycle symbols for menu items until the OS finally loads the icons. This is compounded by the fact that despite knowing that an entry is there, it will not let you choose a menu entry until the icon loads. This happens on both my PS3s so I am having to assume it is poor OS implementation and not a drive issue.
The MP3 lister has the same behaviour as it reads in the song database. All around the PS3 is abysmal as an music player, more so if you have more than a handful of files on it. On the music player front, you can list by album except it doesn't show the artist so unless you have memorized every album title in a large collection, good luck finding anything. I so regret copying a large number of MP3s onto one of my PS3s as the more files you have, the harder the system is to use. The PS3 seems optimized to at most about 10 to 20 albums.
I'll say. When I download a 200+MB game and then immediately have to download the same game again as a patch, something is seriously messed up.
Uncharted - seems to kind of play itself in the platforming sections.
I've pretty much given up on LBP now. My latest movie receives rave reviews from the people who play it or watch it, yet it's only had 25 plays. As a creative medium the work:reward ratio just isn't there for anyone who doesn't break into the 'big league' of recognition. That also negatively impacts my enjoyment of other people's creations, so I prefer to find entertainment in other titles. For me personally, Move support in LBP2 comes too late.LBP2 will be getting the Move support this September
Seems to me that the PS3 "addons" lost steam around the same time the Security Flaws turned up.
To much energy wasted on fighting pirates?

They may not have, but that's what it feels like! There is an optional PS3 firmware update yesterday (v3.65 I think). ^_^
I doubt they have wind down PS3 updates.
LBP on Vita looks ideal. That looked fabulous as a creative tool and it can provide many of the mobile minigame experiences that people are used to from apps. I won't be spending or more blood, sweat, and tears on it though!... which is why I hope they generalize LBP for Internet exports and publishing. I'd love to have my kid make an interactive LBP greeting card to send to my friends and relatives !
