It won't kill the used game market. EA and others have already done it. It may change the used game price though. The used game retailers are likely to adjust their price based on demand. Effectively it means the developers and publishers may finally get some of the $$$ for used game sales (But only for MP games).

Anyone know what effect it had on Mass Effect 2 with their Cerberus code? Like did it lessen new sales, affect the games used price at gamestop, etc... Aside from some online grumbling I don't remember it having much negative effect at all.

I was told it had some negative impact but they didn't give me any link. Would be interesting to know how much the developer and publisher get back from used game sales at the same time.

The impact may be lessened by aggressive online retailers using store credits and promos. People may be able to buy new games at a cheaper price.

I'm sure EA has made a few $ from ME2 second hand sales with people buying Cerberus Network Access.

I think they should turn everything around ... make games $39,95 (or less) for the single player, and then pay separately for the online bit.

You don't need Cerberus it's only some little mission bonus,not very necessary and give little to the story.
Much look to the impact of EA pass on FIFA game, or other online game.

The système of Pass it's really a very old and stupid approach, this give you bad PR, so can hurt sells and not necessary give your money from resell market. It's like a french expression when you want the butter, the money from butter and the smile from the dairywoman.

Editors already have a method to made money from the resell market, it's call Download Content. And the more of this method you also made money from first buyers and limit the presence of you game on resell market, and if you have a good online, your game are nearly non-existent on resell… Look at COD games.

Doesn't EA have a similar system? I think I had to enter a code in FIFA 11....

that code is for live updates of squads. Which for some ridiculous reason is limited to one league per code, and you have to buy the others. You can go online without it afaik

We will get more details soon since James Stevenson said that some proprietary server tech was involved. He also said more will be revealed in the public beta. I already got a spot reserved !

It's actually a few missions, including a recruitment one for a new squad member with some quite important skills, and also some new weapons...
