Sony PlayStation cross-platform game strategy

I have a lot of disposal income but I'm not spending £70 on every nextgen title out of idle curiosity - there was about 20+ launch titles with nextgen versions and some were £60-70.

Who the hell is dropping a grand on new games they might not like? If a lot of people were doing this, games sales on launch consoles would be significantly higher and the economy would be in a lot better shape,

yeah I get you but from those 20 games how many was true next gen ps5 exclusives ? 3-4? No one is expecting people to buy every next gen patched or upgraded game. I am surprised cause if I had ps5 I would take returnal and RC over any fifa cod or whatever. Maybe the 70 bucks price tag hurt Sony more then they thought

Demon Souls and Returnal were both PS5 exclusives but I'm not buying games I'm not going to enjoy. You do understand we're different people who different preferences, right? I happily bought AC Valhalla, Miles Morales, Dirt 5 and Sackboy's Big Adventure, but I also had a bunch of PS4 games on Sony's PlayStation Collection which I had never played.

I don't gravitate to games because they have shiny graphics. :nope:

yeah I do understand that that’s why I wrote I get you. You don’t have to be angry at me. The most heard narrative is that people who buy ps buy it becouse exclusives and now it shows that exclusive doesn’t even sell that well. And I don’t expect you to buy every single game realased on pa5 to be clear. I am talking in generał aboit consumers. People have different taste but someone who gets into trouble to get ps5 becouse of exclusive or whatnot not buying RC? and how this game couldn’t be in anyone’s taste?
It’s like bible if you are Christian you have it at home

Second all of that.

Having had a stab at Dark Souls and Bloodborne previously, I knew Demon Souls wasn't going to be for me. I don't know about other gamers, but I am generally pretty good at knowing what games I will like and what games I won't like. Likewise I am not a fan of roguelikes so I skipped Returnal. When I got the chance to play it on a friend's console, it wasn't for me. There are occasional surprises, but not very often.
tough from what I read demon souls is easiest of all (bloodborne one of hardest) so maybe try as I with mage ;d

I'm not angry I am just perplexed whenever people appear confused that other people don't think they like they do. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The most heard narrative is that people who buy ps buy it becouse exclusives and now it shows that exclusive doesn’t even sell that well.

If you don't like violent games, then you're not going to be buying The Last of Us, Days Gone or God of War or Ghost of Tsushima. If Sony could sell their games to even 50% of console owners they could afford to give away the hardware.

I am talking in generał aboit consumers. People have different taste but someone who gets into trouble to get ps5 becouse of exclusive or whatnot not buying RC? and how this game couldn’t be in anyone’s taste?

If you don't like platforms you probably won't like Ratchet & Clank because it's a hybrid platform-shooter. I'm struggling to understand you because you cannot seem to grasp that other people don't think just like you. You say you understand people have different taste them jump to not understanding why people have different taste. I have no words, I can't help you understand.

If you cannot see that somebody may not like something without having to be told, yes there are people who don't like those types of games, I don''t know what I can possibly say.

most populars exes are comming next year, and I really doubt gow 2, horizon 2 or gt7 will struggle to beat 0.5 milion copies :d

Yeah, I read Demon Souls was on the easy side. London Geezer certainly blasted though it. I obsessively track his trophy progress,

I used to like these types of games in the 1980s and 1990s. Games that required really precise control and learning techniques and patterns to beat the bosses but I guess I've just moved on. Likewise, I loved the original Rogue - as in ASCII character game on the PC. I cannot recount how many sodding hours I sunk into Rogue on my girlfriends PC.

While my music never preferences never shifted much from what I liked around that period, my gaming preferences hugely did. I used to hate RPGs and now I love them. I used love simulators (Gran Turismo, Flight Sim II) now I don't enjoy them. I used to like fighting games (Tekken, Street Fighter) but I don't enjoy them any more. I used to love horror games now one every couple of years scratches the itch. I disliked 2D GTA but 3D GTA is the best. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And now i understand why we arent seeing more than a less-handfull of big budget AAA exclusives at the start of this generation, it just aint worth it. Not even with the price hike no one loves.

true but still I'm sure none of them will sell less than 1 milion on ps5
Maybe, but given console sales it's fair to assume there will be plenty more PS5's in homes when those games launch.

This is a bit off topic, but I also think having a last gen version of a game might help the next gen one. It provides a clear comparison of how much better a game can be. Personally, when Xbox 360 came out, it was Fight Night Round 3 that motivated me to upgrade because up until then, you had games like Tony Hawk and Gun that looked basically the same as the OG Xbox, but at a higher res. Fight Night looked a generation ahead.

don't know what we are now arguing with ;d thats only one reason, returnal was brand new rouglike without save option and thats main reason of not so impressive sales, miles morales sold 6.5 milion and most of it was on ps5

lmao ;d I'm waiting for it more than for gow 2 after watching trailer even tough I din't like first horizon

I am propably alone on this but i hope they will drop those unnecessary RPG like elements in dialogs. I cant stand it! Everything else was perfect in 1 one. But i dont understand whats the point of this pointless system that emulates RPG like style conversation without any value add to actual gameplay? Like AC:Odyseey did WTH whyyyy it was so perfect in origins just visit the dude short convesration and BAM you go with your quest. Now we have this pointless conversation like
Can you help me?
- yes i will
- no sorry
God damn i drove on my cyebrnetic horsie thingy like 15 minutes here why would i do that to just say NO?? I am not crazy person.

my main problem with h1 was bland npc's, poor narration and generally prefer fighting humans/monsters vs robots, last part for sure won't change ;d

You're not alone. I like these things but here we are. This is why different games will appeal to, or put off, different people.

You know there are people who thinks that moon land was staged and american wrestling is real. I get it, i still find it odd.
I dont expect you to help me understand anything, there is nothing to understand here.
I just find it curious, i was convinced that exclusives matters to most of the consumers that buy ps5 but maybe i was wrong maybe this is another meaningless argument in console wars.
If i went thru the trouble of getting ps5 at the launch, fight with scalpers or buy from them heavily overpriced because i care so much about ps5 and exclusives why i wouldnt get those?
You dont find it odd? I mean its nothing wrong with it. Its like buying Ferrari and have it locked in garage. Odd.
And back to RC, RC its like "Home Alone" movie, most people like it. You dont need to have very very specific game taste to like it. It received great scores, its technical masterpiece, one of the most impressive games out there that shows the power of new shiny system. Am i so dumb to think that most ps5 consumers would like it? In the market condition where you have literally like 4 exclusive games? And not only avg consumers, consumers that were so dedicated and stubborn enough to get ps5 with all the shortages, covid and scalpers?
Some people like beer some people like wine but most people like Coke.

Not only money but time too. What's the point in buying 200 hours of next-gen games at launch if you only have 50 hours to play between now and when the game you really want is coming out? Two flagship titles per new platform is a good starting point I think, and no publisher goes into a new gen expecting 90+% uptake of their new game from the first 6 months' console sales just because it's one of only five next-gen titles available (except Nintendo :p).
