Something really weird happened with Gears of War, look

we saw the footage from Xboxyde of Gears of War presentation and we saw some framerate issues in cutscenes and a few in slowdowns in gameplay, now look at this

http://www.gamespot.com/live/stream...action/gearsofwar&ksubmoid=&urdate=1167552000

this is the footage of a SEPERATE presentation from the Epic Booth itself, its running much much smoother than the Xboyde version, there is hardly ANY slowdown in cutscene and there and its silky smooth in gameplay

EDIT: its not the same video, the gameplay has the guy shooting at the fallen car and when he is rolling to the rock , something which didnt happen in the XBoxyde video

Could be anything, the different videos playing up, the fact that GOW is not final so might be still a bit erratic, could even be because of the hardware, which is also not final yet.

Looks exactly the same to me, with slowdowns in the cutscene (although it only shows the one).

Maybe it looks different because its a tiny video instead of 640x480+

He may have also meant the "Choppy" version may have been on the PC. That case seems likely since I don't know why it would be choppy on one 360 and not on the other.

but CliffyB said it was exclusive for Xbox 360 in video

Maybe one of them was a 2.8 or 3.0 GHz box... ;)

Hmmm...possibly. But I would consider that a kinda "fall on your face" moment if they actually did have a 2.8 and 3.0GHz 360 running this game without realizing it. Its not good that they could have actually shown a better framerate of GoW to the public.

that character "dom" had a face now not a helmet, their was an old man in the gas station and the game ran smoother and had added effects like the flash coming from the nose of the gun was much different and changes colors now.

Yes but it runs on the UE3 engine so presumably is very portable. I dunno how much console specific work is needed on UE3 games but if the engine handles all the work it'd be instantly transferable to another platform.

IMO, character animation still sucks. His movements are as human looking as Sonic Hedgehog. I stil don't know why go into all the trouble of making the character look so real, if you're going to make them move like sprites.

I think ,part of the problem here, animation-wise is that the characters don't move the way their armour/design would lead us (me at least) to think they should move.

They have very heavy armours ,and they roll and hide like therence hill in 'Trinita' .
There is no consistency between visual design/animation design.

Still looks the same IMO. Smaller screen, but the framerate is still choppy (anything but *silky smooth*) and the animation is still... :???:

I must say I'm seriously uninspired in what Epic has shown so far on both Xbox and PS3 so far. Gears of War has some nice things going for it - nice lighting and complex surroundings, but at what framerate that all will come leaves me pretty disappointed and nullfies any interest I had in it. Now if this were running at a blazing TimeSplitters 2 framerate with *silky smooth* framerate, then things would be different. But I'm honestly not expecting any miracles. And it really doesn't feel epic nor "next generation" either. Do they just suck at showing their games off?
