So, do we know anything about RV670 yet?

Considering the fact that GF8800GT with ~57GB memory bandwidth beats/wins against the HD2900XT with ~105GB memory bandwidth, which tells me that new Radeon 3870 with ~72GB memory bandwidth won't starve to death: also HD2900XT extra ~33GB memory bandwidth advantage over Radeon3870 won't impact at all in performance under my calculations unless under certain circumstance's that 3870 might be memory starved at some point.

ah k, I wonder what the deal is with R6XX AA then. I was under the impression is was some form of hardware bug as many people have mentioned that a shader resolve technically shouldn't impact performance to the degree we're seeing but you'd think ATI would fix it if that was indeed the case....

I think R600's AA issues stem from not just one problem but from several. Complexity of coding drivers for it being the main problem as far as I can tell.

yeah after reading this thread it seems it's not a hardware bug after all and something to do with the fundamental architecture or drivers as you point out. However I personally wouldn't pin it on drivers simply because I've never seen drivers make that much of a difference for any architecture. Performance problems such as these almost always point to a flawed design.

MAybe it has more to do with how well G80 does its AA which doesnt necessarely mean R600's design is flawed. If we had R600 Vs 7900 would we still be complaining about AA?

In regards to AA, G80 tech is simply the best at this point in time which makes R600 look like its full of problems.

There's big drops when you compare it to even R580 though, it's hard to believe that AA would take a dive when compared to the previous gen from the same company.

64 (and before you ask that seems to be the AVG overclockability (bandwidth) of the current 50.000 GT batch)

but even Overclocked the Performance win can't help the Playability (Min Framerates are still to low) you can see that very good @ this example
