So, do we know anything about RV670 yet?

Maybe you could put 4x(2xRV670) cards to work in CrossFire X?

8-Way-CF? No way...

My guess for prices:

HD3850 512MB (RV670Pro) ~ $199
HD3870 (RV670XT) ~$229
HD3870 X2 ((RV670X2X aka R670 aka R680 aka 2xRV680) ~$399 ($499 2x1GiB version)

It's not really about DX10.1, it's about using advanced "developer only" features to get your cards into dev's machines and get them developing on your hardware, rather than your competitors hardware.
At this point, with the success of the G80, the failure of R600, and that G92 doesn't support DX10.1, I'm more inclined to think that D3D10.1 is the new PS1.4.

Rewinding back to R600 design, I actually can't believe the management okey'ed that. Just the block diagram (shaders and texturing especially) told me enough on the first glance and I'm far from being a real expert.
What?

Which part is it that you don't understand? No truly independant scalar units and way too little tex power is very obvious right there:

What issues are there with the shader core? Just because one vendor presents you with a representation that you think may be better doesn't automatically equate to another being worse. What data have you seen that suggests there is an issue with the sahder core?
