Like I said in another topic yesterday, MS is pushing very hard so that every game where coop makes sense has such a mode online. I can already tell you that Shadowrun will have online coop for example, as will most if not all 1st/2nd party games and a lot of exclusive 3rd party ones.

Fucking BAD!!!!!!!!!!! A single player RPG you can play coop!!!!! I was afraid it would be a MMORPG. This is fucking amazing. I am so psyched!!!!

BTW, He also confirmed that the 'Too Human' games will have online co-op too. MS is going all out with Live next gen. Insane...

Hopes it doesn't suck.
Coop in most, if not all, games? Awesome.
Please don't be a Diablo/Baldur's Gate:DA slash fest.

This is the day of glory

I've been waiting for this ever since I knew MS had the shadowrun licence

Indeed these are the days I have not seen since the Super Nintendo... and personally the more CoOp games the better as I enjoy playing those games with my friends, of course there are times where I like to compete against my friends too and finally someone is giving more opinions so I have a better choice of games that I can either compete against other people or play with other people instead of against.

I must say though a Shadowrun RPG with online CoOp would be incredible.

imho Deathmatch for Online games are getting old FAST. We need something different to change up the online gaming sector. And Coop online through a single player campain to me is one of the answer.

No real way to judge the game until they say more about it. Just what sort of RPG is it going to be like?

Still, it's nice to see more games striving to put it in if they have multiplayer at all, no matter what the genre. Return of the King and Champions of Norrath I & II were similarly armed, which is cool, but they didn't precisely break the fun bank. :p

At this point, though, games should simply be looking to place their multiplayer online as well. If they can do it locally, they should just bang out some network code as well. If nothing else, they'll gain the experience to make it REALLY good on their AAA titles, even if a number of others are stank. ;)

Awesome news.

IMHO...uppermanagement at Microsoft game studios need to claim full responsibility for this great franchise. Don't release Shadowrun until the game makers say it is done. Hands off from the marketing guru's that say the Chrismas season is the ideal time launch or whatever. Make a great Shadowrun game first, and worry about marketing it after the fact.

I hope V.P.'s like Allard. Kim, and Moore drop in unannounced on the team making the game, to inspire them to make something great and to insure the development team is getting everything they need.

MS had the Shadowrun license all along? Why've they been sitting on it all this time?! Definitely good news though. Hope they get it right! 8)

Maybe they've been keeping development a secret...like the shadows... *imagines small time shadowrunners (interns) running back and forth in the office delivering packages to the deckers (programmers)*

Wonder what type of game (FPS/TPS or...something) it will be. I kind of just like the overhead view from the Genesis, but that's "old" I guess. I liked the music from the Genesis version. Anyone have music files from that?

heheh..
Who is "Mr Johnson"? Bill Gates? ;)

I hope it is a third person adventure in full 3D (duh)... ;)
Maybe with the possibility to change to first person...

The nerd in me cried when MS aquired FASA. Here's hoping they don't mess up this game like they ruined mechwarrior.

that's a good question... they've dropped out of sight since BF... not even a company website. :?

Who now? ;)

He'd be the motherload of Johnsons though.

"Infiltrate Sony and blow up their factories. Three shadow teams: two heavy muscle, one magic. Negotiations start at 7 million nuyen."

SWEET ASS!!!!

It's finally crawling out of the shadows! Hopefully, they'll implement the 10 our character creation system of the P&P game. (It's honestly one of my favorite parts).

I've always got the impression, from developers comments, that MS was a very hand off publisher.

Studios like Bioware have said they were extremely happy with the low pressure, hands off approach that MS gave them. With Bungie, MS is also saying that they don't run Bungie and it will be done when BUngie says so.

I don't know where people get this impression that MS Game Studios "ruins" games or forces Devs to release early, I've never actually heard any Dev's make this comment.

On the subject of 1st party titles, MS has announced they are aiming for strictly AAA titles, quality over quantity that's their goal. We shall see!

p.s. I've never heard of this game? It's a a genesis game?? I was a Super NES guy myself...lol.. those were the good old days, SNES vs Genesis

Except when MS told them to release halo and halo 2? ;) :p

Yeah there was a genesis version. Try an emulator if you want to see it. :) I thought the interface was easier to handle than the SNES version. It was also easier I think. No need to really aim at people specifically, just target lock hitting a button, although the amount of damage or even hitting was dependent on your skills and all that. Eventually, with smartgun you could be facing the opposite direction and automagically turn around and hit the guy if you've got the target lock on him.
