Shadow of the colossus and framerate issues

On my first playthough, i just used the tv speakers and it was great, next playthough will be using the surround system and subwoofer. Its a good job I dont have a weak heart, these collossus are incredibly scary. :)

I think they look kinda cute... But then again i haven't played the game yet. And won't for at least 4 months....

The "approach music" of the third colossus I believe (the first bird colossus) is absolutely stunning. There's an element of sadness to it so I was reluctant to even provoke a battle. Reliving the battles through time attack and brings back a sense of nostalgia... It is definitely a fairy tale come to life as Blue Tsunami eluded to.

I believe this game will sell well but I think the numbers won't show it.

I got this game at EB and they had only a stack of like 10 for sale. Compared to the huge stacks of other games in the store, mostly FPS no less. In fact, they didn't have the box on the shelf. I had to request it specifically. Best Buy and Futureshop (Canadian electronic retailer) didn't even have it in stock. I think the retailers are ordering only a few at a time, or maybe thats all they were given? People who know the game want the game, but I think the occasional casual gamer will totally miss it if this is how it's treated here in Canada.

Yeah, by design they're more majestic, ancient and awing than they are monstorous and foreboding. Heck I want the #2 Colossus as a pet... although you'd probably have to use a forklift as a pooper scooper. :) I felt like an absolute prick stabbing the poor thing in it's frontal lobe.

Yeah number 2 and a few others I did feel bad killing to death. But the rest can go to hell. I loved every second of their death.

Stunningly beautiful game, I do feel apathy for the creatures......... Perhaps the PS3 version We will battle along side these Colossal creatures(pets?)! :)

Mmmmmmmm....PS3 version *drool*!

WE NEED MORE GAMES LIKE THIS!

This is gaming gold right here -- this type of gem is why I continue to play games and why Sony will continue to get my dollar next gen.

EGM and OPM reviewed the game. OPM didn't mention about any glitches but EGM did. Saying it had tons of techical issues and ever present slowdown. I've read EGM over the years and they are known for bias toward xbox and gamecube, so i take them with a grain of salt. Recently, previews stated that the new build they received had improved framerate and lod. So who do i believe? I know not to trust EGM.

I had a chance to play it today. A coworker brought it in and boy did it grab attention.

I noticed some graphical anomalies but having helped develop games for the PS2 myself, I know how much of a pain it can be when you're tryign to push it's limits. :\ I also noticed the framerate was pretty bad, it felt no higher than 15 or 20, sometimes even 10.

These faults aside, it's not going to prevent me from buying the game ASAP. I still had a lot of fun and the art was for the most part superb.

The vistas and surroundings are amazing. They hit the natural environment and open feeling on the head. The best sense of feeling I got from this game is "size". Not only because of the Colossi but, when you get the game, stand at the corner of a canyon or on top of a shrine (save point) and look around. You feel small compared to everything else, its a sense of feeling i've never gotten before from a game.

I was going to do a long rental on this but since Toys R Us is having its annual 3 for 2 sale, I'll pick it up.

The game is freaking out of this world. I just beat the 13th colossi and that beast is a wonder. No spoilers, I would just like to say that it will be a fight that you never forget! This game is just too much fun.

Hahah... I knew you'd give in. Seriously, a February release is ridiculous.

Hope the game arrives in a timely fashion!

Yes! Now you can add to the comments about the game. I knew it was only a matter of time.

So i have the game...

Great game...but the l.o.d.! gosh it's bad! the slowdown isn't as bad as i thought, it only happens during heavy particles usage. i hope they make a second on for ps3.
