Shadow of the colossus and framerate issues

Great game...but the l.o.d.! gosh it's bad! the slowdown isn't as bad as i thought, it only happens during heavy particles usage. i hope they make a second on for ps3.

They will make a PS3 game, but it will not be a direct sequel.

SOTC must be selling pretty well, at least around here.

All the Toys R Us in the South Bay and peninsula region of SF are sold out.

Looks like it will do better than Ico.

DAMMIT i couldn't resist!!! I ordered the US version of SOTC, with Swap Magic 3.6 (to play import games)....

Let's hope it all gets here fine... :D

I ordered mine a few weeks ago and having been dispatched on release it's still somewhere in the postal system.

For the last 2-3 days every time the post arrives I keep running downstairs like a kid at Christmas... and when the postman is late I'm invariably pacing up and down by the window. I probably need to get out more.

Ico is the only game I can remember where I borrowed a copy to have a go, played it to completion, and then bought my own copy anyway, even though I wasn't really planning on replaying it - just because I wanted to make sure the team wasn't done out of a single sale.

A quick question, is there voice acting in shadow of the colossus? What language if there is? Quickly quickly!

Yeah, there's brief bits of dialog but like Ico its a fictional tongue that sounds distinctly Asian in nature. Subtitled according to region.

Even Armymen games would have sold more than ICO, sadly. ;)

Ico didnt do all that bad actually, especially for a relatively early userbase with little to no ad campaign. It sold over 300k worldwide, with US ironically being its biggest market.

Thank you, I'm about to go out and buy it and the last thing I want is to be playing something like this with bad VA. Always always always kills the mood for me in games. I'm too picky I think, but yeah. Thanks again.

It did a bit better than that:

Sony's ICO development team has confirmed that a new title is under development, they plan to reveal the title in near future. The team has also revealed the worldwide sales of ICO, which is around 650,000 copies; and the breakdown is as follows:

USA (09/26/01) - 250,000 units
Japan (12/06/01) - 160,000 units
Asia (01/13/02) - 20,000 units
South Korea (02/22/02) - 20,000 units
Europe (03/20/02) - 200,000 units

Early indications reported on www.gamefront.de are that Shadow of the Colossus sold around 100,000 units on its first day of sales in Japan, which is a massive improvement over ICO.

Anecdotal at best, but I went in to buy Wanda and the I was told eb had something like a month long list of orders to be filled. It's also number one on Jp sales charts. Looks like people saw some potential this time around.

It was the viral marketting what done it!

Ico has built up its reputation over the years for offering a unique experience.

Sony obviously was pushing SOTC as one of its main games for the year.

What is impressive is that this is new IP. Will there be a sequel if it's a big hit or will the designer go on to something else?

Just hope it's not another 3-4 years before his next game.

If his next game is a critical and commercial success, his games could approach Zelda stature.

finished!!!!!!!!

I don't know if i got use to it but the game has gotten better looking at the end. I lot better!! All and all i really loved this game!! Ok, now i have a quick question, is there multiple endings?

I bought a PS2 for the first time so I can play this game, and it turning to be my favorite game of this generation. A real masterpiece so far, even though I am only 6 colossi into the game. So unique, and so amazing to play.

The comments in thread helped me in deciding to get it. Thanks! :D

jee, i sure hope i don't a bad rep for saying this... anywho, the game gets way better as you go on. wayyy better, so hold tight!

Yeah I loved every minute of the game. The art direction imo is top notch. And the animation is great too. The developer of this game said that he hopes the PS3 could give him enough power to not have to hold back at all from attention to detail. I hope he gets what he wants.

Link Sang has sent the game, should be here this week.... Now the problem is that the Swap Magic thing to play import games isn't going through. Still saying "order processing"... ARRRGGHHH!!!

HAving SOTC at home without being able to play it will kill me!!!!! :devilish:

This game is like playing a miyasaki.Juste done #7 yesterday night.this morning i'm not sure it wasn't a dream.Tech and art at its best relationship ever.
