Ryse: Son of Rome [XO]

Its amazing what they accomplished in that game as a launch title. You can tell its still only half as long as it should be, buts its still an utterly beautiful game whether in stills or in motion.

When you are watching a cut-scene you are really blown away, but then it smoothly transitions to real-time play and you are hard pressed to spot the differences in some cases. You are sitting there waiting for the scene to finish, when in reality you are supposed to be playing again.

Lighting is outstanding in the cut-scenes, so imagine if they could carry that over to future gameplay. Laa-Yosh how close are we to that?

Other new-gen games are fantastic, but this one really makes me wander around to try and look at all the finer details. If only open world games could look like that, I know some scenes on the aqueduct had a bit more draw distance to them for example.

Hair in some cases was great, even during gameplay.

Some scenes were fairly stunning. The forest scene before the aqueduct comes to mind.

Then the legion scene where they march through a darkening forest to the lair of Oswald... the fight with the twin dual flaming sword guys is impressive.

Toward the end back in Rome as you wander through the streets in search of Nero looks photosurreal.

It was this game that made me believe that the xb1 was only a few devkit updates away from PS4 visuals.

Yeah, stuff that's off-topic and going into versus territory is nuked.

It was to me the most impressive game of the lineup, and I had fun playing it (save the beginning, when you get used to the game, and the last levels).

The British Isles stages are stunners, really beautiful scenery. It is a game I am not playing now, but I want to keep it for the lifetime of this generation.

Im keeping it pretty much forever myself. It is the only game I bought launch day that I havent traded in. My favorite levels graphically are the Aquaduct and when he returns home towards the end of the game. The gameplay is not as bad as dialing numbers on a phone like some reviewers said. Its actually really fun on the higher difficulty settings.

Wow ! Didn't know it was that beautiful ! Maybe I will get to see it in person someday. MS hasn't cared to launch the XBone here yet. With the Kinect gone, price lowered, I am sure more of the 360 owners will migrate to it now.

Holy shit! The graphics are insane!! And best thing...game itself is cool as well! Gameplay makes quite fun...story so far is interesting!

It is like playing a movie blockbuster!

Haha Yup this game will definitely re-assure you that the XBOX One is capable of outputting amazing IQ when in the hands of the right developers contrary to the popular online belief... And you ain't seen the best yet.. The first chapter of the game is far from being the most impressive one. BTW Make sure to play on the hardest difficulty level to enjoy it more.

I am in chapter 5 now. Still insane. I am not talking about the cutscenes, which are not real time. But the gameplay...best released visuals so far imo.

I just read up DF vs Ryse...they said it is pre-recorded!?!

Btw, imo this game demonstrates that 30fps with graphics turned to 11 ist still a very good option if you go for this movie style game - is pure entertainment imo!

Can't find the link right now. But a Crytek dev did say that some are real-time while most of them were pre-rendered because of time contains and to allow seamless level loading while the cut-scene is played back. For example de one at the star of the night chapter in the forest is real-time.

I actually haven't even opened my copy of Ryse Day One Edition yet as I don't have a console to play it on. I'm waiting for the white console but it's still a few months away. I'm thinking I should just buy the the black version and then sell it when I get the white one? Destiny beta is coming up so maybe I should just get a black console.:???:

Maybe they have enough games already announced and since Ryse II is a ways off likely 2016 they don't want to release any info yet?

Yes my friend Ryse is a looker for sure. Not to mention much more fun to play than alot of Reviews made it seem. I got it launch day have beaten 6 times and I am half way thru it as I speak. Some of the cut scenes are real time it is mostly the ones that go from cinematic straight into gameplay. I really hope they make a sequel to Ryse. If it happens I hope they add a few actual combos into the combat.

I'm surprised that with all the 2015 release hype, we saw nothing from crytek regarding Ryse 2 or related exclusive ips...
Didn't Crytek mutter something about moving into F2P games? That doesn't necessarily smaller titled but it does sound as though the studio are refocusing on where the money is. Sad, but true.

Can anyone blame them? Even Rockstar made a loss last year, while Candy Crush made something like half a billion $ in profits?
