Ryse: Son of Rome [XO]

Also, the latest trailer is native 1080p (according to pixel counters) while we know that the game runs at 900p.
Who was the pixel counter and what was their method? Because the blur+AA+upscaling makes it a very hard task that I wouldn't trust any but the most proven pixel counters on, preferably alongside a picture of which pixels they counted to prove method.

We dont know that and thats not latest video. It was about Combat Viddoc and was counted by a guy who was doing it for a first time from very compressed footage.

Also game was demoted on real Xbox One hardware on every show so far.
True, but people can't discern between 900p and 1080p in those kiosks (TV size, reflections from lights, etc...). Maybe if they switched resolutions back and forth, maybe, though I doubt it.

Sure, maybe the pixel counter got it wrong, but I'm just saying that judging by past experiences, Crytek isn't beneath passing PC footage as console footage.

This whole conversation of crytek passing off pc footage as console footage is getting very tired.
Ryse is a xbox one exclusive they are not making a pc version. Its common practice in the industry to capture in game screen shots at higher resolution than the game runs and use those screens for promotional material. They did it with halo 4. As far as video uploads and demo booths crytek has stated the game has always been 900p but that the frame buffer is 1080p upscaled.

The bottom line in my opinion is the game is beautiful. Why is it so hard for some people to believe that a closed box system is capable of sporting graphics like this?
People have been dismissing the xbox one's graphical capabilities since before the system reveal.
E3 comes and the games actually look good for the most part and instead of the developers getting credit they get accused of using trickery and lying. Hopefully when the console launches and people get the games in hand and see them for themselves all of these accusations will stop, but somehow I doubt it.

The deal is that the Xbox One is supposedly "underpowered" according to some forum warriors and unfortunately for them, Ryse blows that theory away. That's why Ryse is the favorite scape goat. I'm not trying to start a big flame war over the whole thing, but that's the simple truth.

Do these help? first one is e3 build, bottom two are from the recent build.

I can find another one if these aren't sharp enough.

There seems to be a significant decrease in the detail of the main character. The chainmail has gone from the sleeve, the back of the armour has lost a lot of detail and depth, same on the bracers. The Gladius appears to have disappeared as well, and the helmet.

At the same the fortifications have become more complex, the flying boulder has become rounder. The armour shader has become 'shinier' as well.

But overall the majority of the image has decreased in complexity since E3. Is this artistic choice or rendering trade off for framerate?

^ Except the old armour there is still in the game, but different for some reason in that screenshot. Can you change armour?

I'd guess it's just that the character changes costumes during the game, the one from
the first demo was the only one polished enough for public showing.

No helmet but there's hair , which isn't "free" .
There are differences , but i wouldn't call it a decrease ... backgrounds look better now i believe .

Also, the buckles on the armor are now properly modeled instead of just being 2D texture details.

I should have mentioned that the armor is not the same. He does get the armor in the first screenshot later in the game, probably as he rises in rank.

Er, I don't see why you're so impressed - it's clearly not ingame footage, but not too impressive either...

I think its live action?

At 0:50 is not live-action. Just look the links.

Not in-game but... real-time?

If real-time, IMo it is impressive:
