Seriously, with each video I see it looks less and less like a Resident Evil game. One of the things that truly bothered me about 4 was the vastness of the game. Apparently, ditching the close quarters was a good enough idea to keep with the future RE games.... Alot of these outdoor, sunny locations are beginning to annoy me. RE 1-3 took place ENTIRELY at night. I mean, don't get me wrong, the game still looks good and I'll definitely buy it, but I just don't see how it can be classified as a survival/horror game anymore. It looks to me like it slowly transisted into one huge, tag team crowd clearing game.
Survival/Horror doesn't have to take place entirely at night. I think you're just too used to the old RE formula. If you stick to the old formula for the 5th game in the series, it might become stale and sell poorly. If you watch the developer interview on GT, they said that some of the team members wanted to go back to the old dark style while some of the others wanted to evolve the RE4 style. Since the story revolves around the origin of the virus they had to base the game location in Africa. Hopefully there will be some night and indoor gameplay levels in RE5 since it worked in RE4. As the 5th game in the seriee RE5 had no choice but to evolve IMO. It looks to be a mix of RE4 + RE0. I think you may have to wait until RE6 if you like the old school RE environments.
