R600 how many pipes

Sadly, X1900XT's ROPS appear to be like X1800XT's, not X1600XT's. Big sigh.

I may have missed some of the relevant discussion, but what evidence have you seen in support of this?

16-1-3-1 for X1900XT

4-1-3-2 for X1600XT

If X1900XT were capable of 16-1-3-2 then the ROPs would, presumably, be as powerful as X1600XT's.

But the RV560 *should* well be 8-1-3-2 right so maybe thats the "holy-grail" of the series in price/performance, what do you think?

Wonder how X1600XT with a 4-2-3-2 setup should behaved? A little bigger die but what about performance?
Maybe that could removed much of the bad fuzz it got, as the first impression is very important.
Anyway i assume that it was supposed to launch in mid 05 so then it was probably a better decision when they made it with RV560 coming 8-9 months later(?).

Real killer line X1900 and x1700, any clue when the later is coming btw?

RV560/X1700 seem quite some way away at the time of writing. Don't hold your breath.

Just from the numbers it seems like a gem if it gets a god pricetag.
Regarding the timeframe would it not be *reasonable* too assume around the time of the 7600 series launch thats been delayed a little if we should speculate?
