I don't feel that a single person on these forums thinks ATI is doomed. If someone bites into the Inq's sensationalism, then that's their own fault.

Why do you have to spoil the fun :(

alright alright, I'll bite. If you all really want to know, ATI is liquidating off all its assets as it prepares to file for Chapter 11 due to the delay of R520 and Crossfire. ATI is for all intents and purposes DOOMED!

And R520 is never released, ATI's assets are purchased by NV at firesale prices, and for the next 10 years we'll be hearing that "Gxxx is finally going to include the fabled ring bus that would have saved ATI. . .if only, if only."

Wait, I read that story somewhere else I think.

Finally someone gets what I've been telling in at least ten posts in the last two days ;)

I will give the Inquirer the benefit of the doubt that they were thinking along these lines .
Heh. I honestly can't believe that the Inq actually knows what they're talking about in the first place.

No problem . But note that I said I was giving them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were thinking along the lines of what I posted . However I won't put $$$ on them being correct , since this might indeed just be a total guess parading as news .

Isn't the expression: "Third time is a charm" :?:

.... ;)

you tell me, I only use that expression in dutch..
It's "third time lucky" in English.
uh, I've never heard that before...

googling:
"Third time's the charm" 23,800 hits
"Third time is lucky" 193 hits

Edit: Aha! Leaving out the 'is' helped:
"Third time lucky" 70,200

and that expresiion I have heard before...

Hmmm, is third time lucky an American expression? I grew up under the British system and third time's the charm is what I'm used to - even in the media and movies.

Well, I'm an Aussie so well.... but a tiny survey of my Brit colleagues seems to indicate "third time lucky" is the better known expression.

Edit: Shakespeare used something similar:
This is the third time; I hope good luck lies in odd numbers.
