R-Type Dimensions is a remake of R-Type (1987) and R-Type II (1989).

This is one of the few XBLA classic game remakes that actually looks good to me.
R-Type
R-Type II
Even for those that might already have R-Types for PS1 (and PSP), this new version of the classic games looks like it'll be worth it. Especially with 2-player gameplay (something the originals never had) and the ability to switch between new graphics and old graphics on-the-fly.
Most XBLA remakes or sequels of old games really turn me off with their cheap looking Flash-like or Java-like graphics. However the guys doing R-Type Dimensions have really impressed me. I'm really happy with this games touched-up high definition graphics. I even like the new angled perspective, which is optional for those that don't like it.

Release date is now sometime in Q1 2009.
update: It's only slated for release on XBLA, as of now Sorry I could not remove PSN from the subject title.
