Quantum Break [XO] (by Remedy) *large images*

I also love the concept, it seems revolutionary in some ways.

Remedy explains how Quantum Break and the TV show tie into one another. Fascinating and brilliant stuff.

I have a hunch the next Halo will take a similar direction ;)
It wont be a trilogy any longer. Its going to be a legacy with a TV show that will bring the game and TV experience together.

edit: It says that "What you get when you buy the game is essentially the first season of Quantum Break". Makes me wonder how they will progress in the second season. Will they make it in the form of a sequel that will include new episodes?
Are they planning to also show it on TV?

Cool! Sounds really like a natural progression of Alan Wake story telling.
Would you believe me if I tell you I've never played Alan Wake? :( I had it bundled with the X360 Slim as a digital download with a code, but gave the code to my best friend as a present.

yay I had never thought of it, but it makes sense now. Perhaps the snap feature will make some use of that symbiosis then.

I am not sure, most likely yes. They are describing Quantum Break as a game but also there is TV show they are talking about.

I only find it natural especially if you take into account that Microsoft hired Elan Lee days ago, who will report to Nancy Tellem --in turn formerly president of CBS Television Studios.

Oh, you should!!! Alan Wake is one of my absolute story telling highlights this gen. I bet you can find it cheap, or if you have a PC, steam it...aaah, sometimes I want to erase a game from my memories to play it again without knowing whats going on :)

PS: especially the DLC goes already in this direction with tv show...

I bought it in the Humble Bundle sale and I was playing Alan Wake just before Lastof Us arrived and completely destroyed my interest in it. It seems too text heavy to me  ! I mean the monologues were fantastic in Max Payne, but it seems too much here. and I simply don't understand why it gives me recaps like a TV show, I just played it dood :???: !

..... or maybe its just that TLOU simply can't let me get back into it.

I think the recaps were just for the atmosphere to make it feel like a TV show :)
I liked that even though in terms of practiality it was useless but I am pretty sure the devs knew that and did it deliberately
The naration was there also for the atmosphere to make it feel like you are reading a novel.

But why does a game want to feel like a TV show? It would have been much better if it gave me a recap if I am playing after a few days. Like if I fire up the game now, frankly I have forgotten what I was just doing in it. A recap when I start the game would be awesome :D , but I won't get it. Instead, after 20 mins of gameplay it will suddenly recap everything I just did and it won't be my gameplay either. Maybe they want me to play one episode at a time, not more than that. Weird, when games are made so that you stay glued to your seat, they want you to stop periodically? Maybe their intent was right, but it doesn't work , it breaks the immersion completely. I hate TV shows, I love games.

...and the narration would be nice, it was the awesomesauce of Max Payne, but I have to stare at a page while he narrates it all  . If they have voice-acted the whole page, why do i have to stare at the page, I can just listen while the narration can keep playing while I can move around and look for supplies.

so, its a game trying to be a novel and a TV show. Maybe thats why , even though it has amazing atmosphere, a sucker for atmosphere I am, I am unable to get hooked. I am just finding it okay. Hoping it will get better later, right now it feels too text/narration/voice heavy for a game.

Hmmm...Quantum Break also has a TV show in it.....Need more info

Well, there is more info at our disposal already.

The developers of Quantum Break define the game as the "ultimate Remedy experience". They explained that it will feature Max Payne-style shooting and Alan Wake style storytelling.

The whole interview is certainly interesting.

Yeah. I didn't care that much about this one at the reveal, but the more I delve into it the more I am getting interested. If those are actually real time graphics, Remedy has really made a fantastic game engine.

The Alan Wake part troubles me, I am pretty much hating its "too much speaking and text" storytelling right now on PC. Hoping its just a style they followed for AW and QB will not be so monologue heavy that it keeps describing things I already know again and again and again !

'Rusty had given me th ekeys, I had to open the office door to get the lights on!"
Yes, Mr Alan Wake, but Rusty just told us that, you don't have to repeat everything as if I am deaf to NPCs or something. I can also hear Rusty saying the exact same thing  !

The game's gfx look phenomenal, if they are actually in-game, fantastic lighting, makes the characters look absolutely real, but I hope they don't go too far with the TV show influence. I was so hyped for Alan Wake, but now that I have it, the TV show stuff irritates me.
Funny that Kojima has also said that MGS V will also be like a TV show  !!!!

Maybe, I should just stop the rant and let you guys enjoy the thread. Will return when they reveal a gameplay demo.

Well, Alan Wake was an author and so it sorta fit with what they were going for. I really liked all that book and narration stuff in Alan Wake.

Yep, he's finding/reading pages of a manuscript he's somehow writing, and they somehow create in the various actual events of the game.
