Quantum Break [XO] (by Remedy) *large images*

In our interview, Spencer touched briefly on the status of Quantum Break, Remedy Entertainment's new title that blends live action content with gameplay. The game, which is not a launch title, he said, is still early in development and that Microsoft and Remedy are "trying to push the boundaries of how people think of live action and gaming today."

Not a launch tittle

Not a launch tittle
I never thought it would make it into the launch titles to be honest.

The concept of the developers saying that the live images and the actual game can impact each other sounds very interesting and if they use it well it can be very far-reaching.

I mean, it sounds like a concept that could be awesome if it works and we shall see if they can pull it off.

It could certainly bring a new audience to games, mature people who can play a game and watch live action immediately.

I just listened to the Alan Wake soundtrack...such a great experience.

Iirc there was talk and rumor that AW is supposed to be an open world game? But due to tech limitations Remedy did change the concept throughout the development. With the new power available...I really am looking forward what they create!

I will ask the inevitable : since I am not in the US and won't consume their TV show associated with the game, will the game work for me? Or has MS gone completely US centric for Xbone?

THey mentioned that in interviews, but they always said the open world structure did not fit with the game, so they scrapped it. SO they made it such that the story progresses during night and u can roam around during day, so that the story segments could be kept tight and not worry about the player wandernig away. it wasn't a tech limitation, as far as I know.

Ah, ok!

MS will be developing the Live Action show themselves so it will be available on XBL. They produced a Live Action show for Alan Wake, Forward Unto Dawn for Halo and now they are going into developing a Live Action series for Halo. along with the rumour that they are interested in reviving Heroes it should be obvious that MS is looking into making XBL more than an online network, and more into something that includes aspects of Amazon Prime ie "Your one stop for all forms of entertainment".

I think that this could be a true revolution in gaming, if you think carefully about it.

For instance, just imagine the possibilities in one of the best games ever on the original Xbox, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Since Xbone can instantaneously switch from a game to the TV and then transition back to the game, the game could have the ability to show Buffy and the other characters as they are seen in the flesh, and then in game mode switch back inmediately to their modelled 3D characters.

That could be great for the future of videogames.

Hehe, maybe Phil Spencer will get in touch, then you guys could play the game, while watching the TV-series, at the same time as you called up your friends with Skype to talk about the what's going on in the Quantum Break fantasy universe. :)

What ? That the hero is a hydrocephalus ?
 Perhaps, like a bobble head.

X-D It sounds like a bit of a hassle, too multitask for my taste, but still doable...

This could happen if the instantaneous flipping back and forth is real. I hope so.

Hopefully it is something nice to play and original and not a return to the FMV days in videogames, most of them were boring.

However, this actually sounds innovative. Trying to push the boundaries between TV and gaming is something new. It would be nice to see how they implement it.

They could use one of the OSs or layers to keep the TV feed/video files and when they need to use them instantaneously switch from the game to live action.

I hope there are plenty of frozen, slow or even funky backward scenes to navigate in this one. It's a neat idea.

Hopefully they show more. I was hoping I'd get to see much more than what was shown. Wonder when we'll get some eyes on gameplay. This is one of my most anticipated titles.

Im very disappointed in the way they chose to market this game.
There have only been few cinematic bits and the creepy kid live-action scene.

You mean the TV aspect? Seems like a progression of the TV shows in Alan Wake, and should be as amusingly naff.

Ubisoft unveiled WatchDogs and The Division masterfully. Nobody knows what Quantum Break is, how its played, how it looks during gameplay, UI...

I agree. I was disappointed in the Quantum Break bit. I still have no idea what it is. I was hoping for some insight. Guess it wasn't ready to show gameplay.

Character face models and animations looked very impressive here. Certainly not getting the attention it deserves.
