Put Your GeForce FX Questions here...

Q: What's the maximum power consumption of a GeForceFX board?

Q: How many engineers were involved with the design of this GPU?

Q: Is your new colour compression technology based on Huffman coding? If yes, with or without DPCM?

Q: GeforceFX offers a new performance mode for anisotropic filtering which "adjusts the number and type of samples it takes for texturing operations on a pixel-per-pixel basis" by monitoring texture and geometry date. Can you provide some more details on the parameters used for this calculations? [I know, you already asked this kind of question, but it might be a different PR guy this time?]

Q: How many GeForceFX GPUs could theoreticly operate in parallel?

Q: Is DXT1 decoding with 32bits now?

  • ATi claims a compression ratio of (up to) 26:1 (hehe or is it 1:26, well you know what I mean) when using FSAA.
What can we expect from nv30 when it comes to compression while using FSAA?
  • How much of the nv25 was "recycled" during the making of nv30? (i.e. Is the card 100% built from the ground up?)
  • What is the default RPM of that big old fan of yours? (The OTES @ 7200 RPM sounds like a jumbo jet parked inside my ear.)
  • When will we see the card in Europe?
  • Sparkle said their fastest nv30-card will weigh in at 600 Euros (in Europe of course) is this what we can expect in general?

Well that's about it for now, sorry if I reposted any questions.

You are asking PR Type guys so I give em a question that they prolly will answer in 1000 words..

Are they happy with the NV30? How much of an advance is it over anything else for NVIDIA? What have they learnt for the future? What can we expect for the future of cg in realtime in general and for NVIDIA?

Not technical really but I would ask something similarish since I dont think anyone else has mentioned these type questions yet...

(hope I made the cut-off!)

Q: There hasnt been much said for multimedia. What kinds of DVD/Video decoding or hardware assist will be supported? Will NVIDIA possibly ship NV-DVD with the high end NV30 products or maybe some sort of mail-in coupon for such?

Q: In the past, 2D and filter/circuitry quality varied greatly depending on the manufacturer of the card and how far they strayed from reference component levels. Has anything been done with the NV30 to better ensure consistent quality?

Q: How much will the bendable hose, crevice tool and floor wand attachments be for hooking on to the end of the card? (sorry couldnt resist. heh)

And how many pizza engineers did it take to create the damn thing ? (cooling system)

I can answer that one. In the recent interview with NVIDIA's CEO, he said that more than 300 world class engineers were involved in the creation of NV30 and as far as I know, there were seperate teams working on it, one team from the former 3dfx employees (who worked on Rampage) and another NVIDIA's team... I think there was also another team, but I can't be too sure...

IIRC, at the launch presentations they were quoting 100.

Wasn't 100M$ a figure given for the overall investment in the chip? I know that the whole NV3x product line is a 400M$ investment...

Not as I remember.

Anyway, Q's sent off now, so no more submissions please. No guarantee's that we'll get answers to any of them and almost certianly all of them will not get answers. We can but try though.
