[PS3] Uncharted 2

Well, I have never seen that reviewer shower so much praise on a game before, and I know him, he is stricter than me while reviewing a game(except on some points where I nitpick more, like level design), so I am gussing it has to be good for him to be so happy about it :) ! Even I never thought it would get so much praise from him ;)

Ha ha, what kind of weakness is
"Background scores feel overdone at times" ?

He has a few spoilers in the review (enemy type). I don't mind them but I know deepbrown would be screaming blood.

Even I dont understand about the BGM.
IIRC IGN mentioned the same....I guess it has to do with a lot of trumpet blowing in most of the BGMs which play everytime.

Funny thing is..I'd love to have that :)

Why would you watch that Arwin...WHYYYYY.

Well there isn't that much new in it fortunately. It just shows the opening (which is something we've seen, though I won't say what) and the first basically 15 seconds of gameplay after that. Thank god it won't be long now. ;) And with some luck, from Wednesday night/Thursday morning I'll be playing GT PSP which will help pass the time.

RE5 was a fine single player experience. I never had a problem with Sheva, not even on Pro difficulty. She was more helpful than a burden. Excellent shot with an upgraded PSG1 and a burst-fire goddess with machine guns. She also never got lost and was generally there for me when I needed a health spray.
She made RE5 a much better game for me, particularly because she wasn't portrayed as super-human or near super-human like every other principal cast member in the game. (she was also pretty hot:) )

As for U2's overdone background scores: if the "fortune favors the brave" trailer is any indication for the rest of the game's music then I'm totally with the reviewer. Sheesh, what an overly sappy, cheesy tearjerker. Would have fitted brilliantly with the first 15 minutes of Tropic Thunder. (where it would have been funny and totally awesome)

Deary me. That trailer is more about the music than the images. And I love that track.

 You mean after the director stepped on the landmine ?

"Fortune Favors the Brave" is probably an overkill. There should be other pieces for different scenarios in the game. Would be surprised if they use the chinese instrument again.

I meant the big fight right at the beginning. There's a similarly sappy tune playing when Stiller gets riddled with bullets while doing his Platoon poster impression in glorious slow motion. It should work well with the landmine joke as well, though. 't was a great joke.

I believe so. I got the time wrong. The Twitter was posted last night. So the demo is available today @ 11:00am (PST ?)

Ha ha, I am level 6 yesterday. Am beginning to enjoy the game more consistently now that I can own someone else. :p

Still trying to figure out how to get to some high ground though.

Opening:

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is beautiful, and Naughty Dog knows it. About halfway through, the game almost comes to a halt so that Nathan Drake can wander around a village where nobody speaks English and he is unable to run or use any of his small but imaginative range of gymnastic abilities. There is nothing to do but stare at the scenery: children and livestock scurrying across sun-baked mud-tracks crisscrossed by shadows cast from clothes fluttering back and forth on washing lines, the perfect transition of bright daylight to dark interiors, and a spectacular mountain range rising beyond the rooftops in panorama.

I bet this is the fabled Shangri La village/city. ^_^

Ending:

Whether or not the multiplayer sticks, however, is arguably a footnote, because at the core of Uncharted 2 is an action-adventure masterpiece whose minor flaws are washed away on a tide of rhythm and spectacle - one that would still be an essential experience even without the option to pull your friends off cliffs and play capture-the-heirloom. For over a dozen pulsating hours, Nathan Drake is among thieves, just as Naughty Dog was when it made the first game by ransacking surrounding genres. By the end of Uncharted 2 though, Drake has found his place in the world, and so has the developer - among giants.

Sounds good !
