[PS3] Uncharted 2

I did say that its the UT of TPS...Guns is faster but its a bit different kind of shooting almost feels like an FPS. You should really watch some fast Gears players do their Shotgun dancing, sensitivity is not an issue for them cause most people dont even use the aiming reticule its all about Hip Firing & you turn quite fast when you are not aiming. :p

well high rank match in U2 beta was significantly faster than low rank too. Especially when the movements of the characters are much faster in U2 than in gears, except maybe for sprinting. It has like 3 different speed/precision play. First is run and gun with R1 to shoot, probably the fastest, second is the lower L1+R1 shoulder view aiming. Third is L1+R1+R3 for a zoomed view which is the slowest but give you better aim. Both games are being compare is most likely because of the use of cover system, I think what set Uncharted and Gears apart is the added platforming/climbing elements in Uncharted. Don't know how many time the vertical cover has saved my butt in the beta.

I hope we can pull-off combos like :

I see a guy following me, I quickly traverse up a wall, jump back and punch him down ! lol Ha ha ! Now, that would be fun, but I don't think it is in. It will be more like a power punch when combined with a jump.

I would also like to see how shooting from the hip works in U2. I didn't try it out in the beta. It could be a last resolve, along with melee when health is almost over.

Also, Can we pull-off those stealth moves in MP, which were shown in the SP mode, where drake creeps up to a guy and SLAMS him into the wall ! That would be immensely fun !(and irritating if done to me  !)

Don't rule it out. In the beta once I was followed by someone, quickly ran up a terrace, jumped over the railing, ran back around up the stairs again and grabbed him from behind, choking him to death. :D

It was a very powerful device already in the beta, pretty effective especially if you picked the corresponding buff.

They've shown later that they added a lot of melee actions, some of which look very, very cool. There's a video, maybe even in this thread, where you see someone playing a later build and continuously perform various melee attacks in multiplayer. In fact they mentioned that all melee available in single-player was added to multiplayer and vice versa. In another article or interview they mentioned that things like melee moves were popular in multi-player, so they added those, and then they added those back to single player also again.

So things are looking good on that front. ;)

post a vid of that dude ! Would like to see it :)

Just a few, the commentary guy may be saying that those are extremely rare to happen but me & my bunch of friends did these kinds of things almost on a daily basis. The third video is a montage & the player is from the Indian Gears of War community so yea that means we all used to play together everyday.

P.S.[Mods I know this is OT stuff, but I was just replying to Renegade's request]

Looks like my wishes were already incorporated in beta. I mostly played Co-op in the beta, so I missed chking out the MP. Great!
And, yes, the incident you mentioned where you crept up to a person and choked him is what I was talking about. Such things could make U2 MP a cult hit  ! IF the jolly and fun tone of the SP gets transferred to MP too, it could be the best new gameplay DNA to come up this gen !:p

PS:could you link to that video of different melee attacks in MP?

EDIT: Thnx for the video nightshade, I'll check them out !

Ah, I wanted to see how it compares to KZ2's SP and MP train levels. They obviously use totally different approaches. Uncharted is story driven even at the "micro-level"; the environment itself changes drastically as the gameplay and story unfold. KZ2 adopts serious amount of postprocessing and intricate animations to immerse the user in the carefully crafted train level.

I am really happy to see both developers push the envelope in different ways.
Thanks guys for working so hard for me, the consumer. I actually feel honored to play your games.

Tbh Uncharted in its beta was no different from being a fastest finger first shooter.
The one who sees & shoots first gets the kill.

Why should it be any different? If I see you and start unloading rounds into you, then I should win the fight. IMO, this encourages players to move and react tactically, as opposed to running around looking for firefights, and not being punished for being careless.

On the flip side, it also encourages camping, but that's going to be a problem no matter what you do.

I really didn't have a problem with the MP, I thought it was fun enough to keep people playing for a while, and adds some replay value. Obviously it's not their main draw, as they want the Single Player to be the highlight of the experience, while still giving players a bit more for their money. Cinema mode certainly looks to contribute to that.

The footage sure is Beautiful  ! I think they are really radical in their thinking and try to see what they can achieve. They could have had smaller environments for this sequence, but , no, they went for the largest draw distance they can manage ! Thats the way to work. Passion wins over business  !

My biggest worry is that Uncharted 2 will be even more linear than U1. Pretty much all clips seen so far make it look so on-rails that it has become the next-gen equivalent House of the Dead.

I understand that Naughty Dog want to further the "cinematic experience" of U1, but that was too tunnel vision for me to really enjoy. This looks worse, imho.

I understand your point! the escape sequence earlier and this are on rails ! But I think there was a Rain sequence before the escape sequence which was pretty much open Like U_DF's open ended areas. AI is the key factor in such "rooms", and U_DF 's AI felt good for those situations, so I am guessing, it will be fine this time too.

I am happy at all the new moves they have added to Drake's move set.

How can it be more linear than U1? U1 is already a completely linear game.

You can take a stealth approach to U2 or an all out action approach. You can go high or go low...etc. They've already stated that's it's linear but with more options than U1.

So, I got a preorder card from EB Games and my codes don't work for either the demo or the Revenge attribute. Anyone know where I'm supposed to go to complain?
