[PS3] Uncharted 2

ND doesn't have that much experience with online, do they?

At least online features that people remember?

I think some of the later J&D games may have had online.

They did Jak X which had an online mode. Never tried it though....

Maybe Heavy Rain will also include competitive MP.
Anyone look to invest time in a competitive shooter will be playing Modern Warfare 2. This news smacks of some higher up wanting a bullet point feature.

Well, it's not like Uncharted can win, can it? If it has no MP, then it's a x-hour game with no replay value. If it has MP, then it's tacked on and a bullet point feature. Nevermind that we don't even know anything about the mode.

I think co-op would suit the game more than Multiplayer . But then, personally, I want it to stay SP, as Uncharted felt so fun in SP, a complete advanture feeling all along, no annoying sidekick  !
I want it to stay personal !

They could keep it SP and just add a sidekick for co-op, kind of like replay the level and skip the story and cutscenes. RBS:V did this I think.

I've never claimed Uncharted 1 had no replay value. I dont hold it against games if they have no MP or coop, as I prefer story driven action games. But I also don't give a fuck for a SP dev like Naughty Dog going out of their way to include something that is clearly a bulletpoint feature.

Not sure I see why folks wouldn't be into multiplayer.

The first Uncharted is functionally a straight-up shooter already, just with some Tomb Raider quirks and a 3rd person POV tacked on to make you think otherwise. I was actually pretty disappointed that there wasn't much beyond mass murder on offer in the game.

So as long as the maps are kept a reasonable size, multiplayer seems a good fit. Definitely more fun than shooting at the semi-mindless hordes of AI baddies from the first iteration. A bit like RE4/RE5 without the more annoying control decisions?

Cheers

You've played it, then?

Screenshots are out and it looks awesome:smile:

Some MP info from GAF:

-Multiplayer co-op for 3 players. Different story than single player. Zones/actions in the map requiered for 2/3 players. Mini bosses in each section. Players will revive after a few seconds (lees if the other players helkp to revive)

-Deathmatch. 4vs4 you can choose two skills. And you need to explore like in Uncharted 1 to find the strongest weapons.

-Capture the treasure, is like CTF. 4vs4 trying to steal treasures from the enemy base.

I dont really see how a multiplayer will make sense with cover mode + Third person view.

I guess as long as they dont have any defend\capture modes it will be okay, (CTF would work if there is only one "Flag" to be captured, if both teams have flags im not so sure).

Reason why im questioning this, is simply because third person view + cover mode is like playing a game with a wallhack. The defender has 100% advantage. Its hard enough to capture things in normal FPS games where people are defending, add cover mode with TPV and it becomes mission impossible.

You are perfectly covered, enemy cannot see you, but you can see them. Anybody who where semi good at RB6:V should have noticed that its next to impossible to capture positions when the other team is defending with a cover mode (if you play against good players that have decent enough aim and cover all exits\incoming ways to the objective) (atleast i cannot remember a single clan match where we managed to loose a defending round in RB6:V as long as we where patient and covered all exits).

Tbh, i cannot see how this would play, there is no reason (aside from capturing that flag) to actually move\switch positions, because everytime your outside of cover you are at complete disadvantage.

Then again, this is not a problem when playing with noobs because of their bad aiming skills.

It actually works in gears, it depends heavily on the maps. If they make the map like a row of cover points with no alternate access, then yeah, it'll be disastrous. One thing that may make this 'harder' to do in Uncharted is that Drake is more agile and nimble than Gears characters, as that's part of it -- it's not that easy to simply turn on a dime in Gears.

I'm more excited about the co-op feature than the traditional MP. Overall though, I want the SP experience to be top notch. Uncharted 1 was just a few quirks away from being excellent. Mainly, increase the difficulty of the puzzles and improve the guns. If I recall (it's been a while), I eventually just stuck to using a high powered pistol for most of the time. Oh and no over clever, makes me wanna punch her in the face, girl this time k?

I hope they add more booby traps. I loved the only one in the original Uncharted :(

The girl is fine for me though. I was really glad she could hold her own and lighten my load. She's a pretty good shot. The old man was ok too, but I never did trust him. Story-wise, I think she kinda saved Nathan's ass a few times (like rescuing him out of prison). And then she'd to get into her own troubles here and there
(Abducted by bad guys; well damn, Nathan and the old man were captured too)

"Wow! I’m so happy you noticed that… but not as happy as our rendering programmers will be! :) Screen space ambient occlusion is one of the many cool new features we added. Thanks for noticing!"

I havent played Gears 1 in ages, and never played gears2, but i was under the impression that maximum sens in gears was significantly higher than max sens in uncharted 1 ?

It's the platforming and the blending of platforming with rest of the gameplay mechanics that need to be the focus of ND to make MP truly unique and something new.
I think they have the right idea, let's see how well it plays.
