[PS3] Uncharted 2

I saw a new leaked gameplay footage of UC2 and its looking pretty good.I really liked the animations as they seemed fluid and the transitions from each animation looked nice...

I think they are really on the correct path with this one. I was a little skeptical whether the new traversal would fit in properly, but watching the demo made me so happy, they just blended it in the gameplay so well, that I forgot that this wasn't there in U_DF.

The preview I was talking about was out when U2:AT was first announced. Maybe the previewer didn't understand what he saw and termed it SSAo, who knows!

It's too bad the preview ended at the most interesting part.

I wanted to see whether the following design goal has been achieved:

If anyone remembers in an Uncharted2 preview, they mentioned about how you can interact with everything right in the midst of a crumbling building. I'm having a hard time to imagine the amount of physics and calculations to be processed if it is what I think it would look like.

I think it is just a set piece where you jump quickly or that part crumbles. it is not what it is being interpreted into being(Maybe just like the SSAO. the devs have never mentioned these things, just some unnamed previewers)

That was a good video, animations are excellent.

It's very much a 'comic book' visual they're going for though, the high saturation gives it a pastel look.

Was good to see that the enemies, don't take a dozen shots to die anymore.

Tell Naughty Dog what you want in an Uncharted 2 Collector's Edition

http://www.joystiq.com/tag/uncharted-2

A collector's edition hasn't yet been confirmed -- Naughty Dog is just testing the water to see if it would be viable. If you have a good idea for an Uncharted 2 collector's edition -- should one be made -- then leave a comment on this post, in case a Naughty Dog representative should come snooping round. Alternatively, feel free to twitter your idea and include the hashtag "#u2ce" in your tweet.

Would be great if they can add multi-player. If they want to keep co-op separate like Resistance 2, that's fine too ! However they may want to spend slightly more time to talk/think about why keeping it separate is better for the players (rather than better for the developers due to resource constraints and project scoping).

I don't care about PSN not having the same level of usability as XBL.

But it's sad to see first and second-party PS3 games not emphasize online as much as Xbox-exclusives.

The PS3 exclusives have more variety than 360 exclusives but are lacking when it comes to coming up with ways to integrate online, even for genres which traditionally haven't been online.

About the only exception would be LBP, which brought online to a platformer.

If MS was subsidizing development of Uncharted 2 (either thru a publishing deal and/or making it a platform exclusive), is there any doubt there would be some form of online features?

ETA: MS is also good about evangelizing or prodding third-parties to add online features too.

There're some Uncharted 2 (and inFamous) news coming on 27th this month. Let's see what they say. I think Sony lets the developers do what they want. People have been asking for multiplayer for Uncharted since the first release. If ND chooses to ignore their requests, then the company will naturally suffer the consequences, big and small.

I am of the opinion that not all games need multiplayer, especially when they adversely effect the single player experience (see: The Darkness, Condemned 2, etc). It pulls resources away that otherwise could be devoted to polishing the SP Experience.

Well MS is selling online, so they have a reason to push online stuff, even if it is a tack on.

I hadn't thought of it that way. MS has much more interest in online gaming because it ends up paying them more money in the end.

They used online as a differentiator.

I don't think XBL generates big profits for them. But they certainly emphasize it.
