[PS3] Uncharted 2

They will try to make more profit out of it (fairly). It fits their model, which is not a bad thing !

If both Sony and MS are touting their growing online audience, then I do wonder at what point will they "flip the switch". Anyway, I'd just wait for their 27th announcement and see what they say.

Sony wont do it this gen. I'd suspect. 2 years ago they werent in a position to do it although i think overall now PSN is superior to xbox live but needs certain bullet points that fanboys deem important.

I just jope the SP is as good as U_DF and KZ2 ! I want a satisfying SP not MP in Drake!
I want the SP to be a little longer this time, I hope they do that coz the engine development got done making Drake's Fortune. Unless they have spent the extra time making some MP :???: !

They used online as a differentiator.

I don't think XBL generates big profits for them. But they certainly emphasize it.

Are you kidding me? XBL is basically free money!

It costs them next to nothing, and they get 5 bucks per month from X million subscribers. XBL is VERY profitable.

They sell 1-year cards here for as low as $30.

So what?

XBL has an aproximate cost of next to 0 per user. (its not actually 0, but its very close. After all, its not like they have dedicated servers or anything, all they have to do is maintain a good enough bandwidth for downloads etc, maintaince stuff and possibly adding more features\patching existing features (which only costs developer salaries, which if you divide by the number of paying users becomes completely insignificant)).

XBL Gold is basically a lot of cash for next to no work for microsoft.

Just like with MMO's. That monthly fee your paying has no relation to the costs of actually running the game and patching stuff , its there to make publisher\devs rich.(sometimes there are big free updates, but again, given enough subscriptions costs per user is next to 0 anyway),

Ha ha, I meant starting to enforce the online component requirements and include MP capability in all its flagship titles. Not starting to charge the users.

Great news about Uncharted 2 MP. I hope they formalize their beta process. Guide us to maximize our feedback please ! Things like the KZ2 non-existing party setup shouldn't have passed our beta test. Beta testers may not know what we saw is all we get. Because a public beta test may be incomplete (e.g., R2 beta did not include the co-op game mode), people may think more are coming/kept secret. Hence they kept quiet, or didn't complain as much.

ND doesn't have that much experience with online, do they?

At least online features that people remember?

I think some of the later J&D games may have had online.

Maybe Heavy Rain will also include competitive MP.
Anyone look to invest time in a competitive shooter will be playing Modern Warfare 2. This news smacks of some higher up wanting a bullet point feature.

MP is not really that surprising, I remember from an interview that they even had network code in the engine for the first Uncharted, but didn´t have time to do anything with it. MP was more or less bound to happen in this version.

Hmm... I know we talked about Uncharted online in the first game. Co-operative or competitive treasure hunting sounds interesting.

If Heavy Rain have online, it would be of a very different form.
