[PS3] Uncharted 2

In the interviews a few pages back, they mention some of the environments in the game. Which are a city, temples, jungles, a swamp, a train, and of course the snow environment. They said they wanted to match the look of each environment to what's going on storywise, so it should have plenty variety.

Thanks alot for that info. I played uncharted 1 to death (and enjoyed every minute of it ) so im really looking forward to uncharted 2.

Come to think of it, uncharted is the only game i have where i got 100% trophies

Same here. I beat it 5 or 6 times, and did it all again to get all the trophies. It's a great game.

I hope they can combine the combat with the stealth and climbing like they have talking about for Uncharted 2. It should really open up the possibilities for the gameplay.

This thread is dangling over the edge.

If you guys think someone is trolling that is exactly why God invented the report post button.

Don't bring in Uncharted: DF conversation here unless it's intertwined with the point you're making here ("Uncharted 2 will suck because the main char didn't die in Uncharted: DF").

If you're making a technical point, especially one that has subjective implications (say, whether the texture resolution is/isn't enough for the third-person game) make sure you bring in proof.

I'm glad that the guy that did the first one and Firefly's/Serenity's soundtrack is back. Love his work.
I also have a strong feeling that the guys behind Uncharted's story are Firefly fans, as Drake as a character has a lot in common with Maclom Reynolds, the main character in the firefly series.

A small snippet about the ND closed door media event. Quote here is basicly all an article has, no need to click :)

We've included the list of this information below.

- The historical mystery surrounding Marco Polo and his lost fleet, which serves as the foundation for our story.
- What’s happened to Drake, since it’s pretty obvious he’s a bit scruffier, down on his luck and he’s definitely running with way shadier people than before.
- Introducing everyone to Chloe Frazer, a sexy and impulsive Australian who is just this side of unpredictable and dangerous, not to mention Drake’s new partner and romantic interest – can you blame him?
- Adding in what we’re calling “action-stealth” to give you the choice to go in guns blazing or take out a few adversaries unnoticed before engaging the rest of them.
- Blending together our climbing and shooting into what we call “traversal gunplay” so you can now be in gun combat in the middle of climbing, swinging on a rope, hanging from a ledge or sign…you can shoot pretty much from anywhere, anytime you want.
- All the cool things the Naughty Dog Engine 2.0 can do now, like pushing way more polygons than before, an overhaul of lighting and shadowing, complex enemy A.I., snow shaders and subsurface scattering, fur shading, new physics engine, audio obstruction occlusion…the list goes on and on and on.

I hope Naughty Dog lets Amy Hening off the leash in regards to story telling in Uncharted 2. The woman was responsible for one of the best and most complex stories ever put into a game (Legacy of Kain series). I'm still amazed she was able to bring all the countless story-threads together in LoK: Defiance, and in a very satisfying manner no less. Considering this, I was a little surprised at how underdeveloped the bad guys in the first game were. I don't need another Kain, but a little more than 4 lines of dialogue per character would be very much appreciated.

According to Denis Dyack, Amy Hennig had nothing to do with the orignal story for Legacy of Kain, at least thats what he told a poster on NeoGAF who claimed she did.

If anyone remembers in an Uncharted2 preview, they mentioned about how you can interact with everything right in the midst of a crumbling building. I'm having a hard time to imagine the amount of physics and calculations to be processed if it is what I think it would look like.

We haven't seen any actual screens yet either, just hi res 'bullshots'.

We've seen screenshots taken of the game and then shown in 1080p resolution (even though the game renders in 720p) and cutscenes rendered using the PS3 engine.

You can call the former a "bullshot" if you like - but I prefer to limit that to games that put out obviously doctored/CG screenshots.

Do you have a link ? I don't remember any U2 article making that claim. Would love to read it ! ^_^

the devs tease that the technology is strong enough to "allow an entire building to collapse while you're in it - and we can throw enemies in at the same time while that's happening.

He also hinted that Nathan will even have to run, climb, and fight his way out of a collapsing building as it crumbles to the ground.
Hope we get to see them at E3!

That is hardly the same as saying "they mentioned about how you can interact with everything right in the midst of a crumbling building".

.
No, youve seen screenshots rendered at 1080p. They are not screenshots taken from the game then shown in 1080p resolution, that would mean it was a 720p screenshot upscaled to 1080p, which would give sucky quality. They are screenshots rendered at 1080p, obviously bullshots (yes i know you have your own definiton of bullshots)

That's what I meant Oste :) The point is, they aren't doctored.

Don't we have U2 thread to talk about the second game instead of this one ? :)

Yes, this one.

Cool, thanks for the links. Will have to see how they realize it.

I doubt it too. I imagine it could be similar to GoW 3's moving Titan level. Nathan may be able to run from a (slowly) collapsing level just before it's about to give way. Once the collapse takes place, you can't do anything about it.
