[PS3] Uncharted 2

For me, I noticed it with all firmwares, but again, only on that one part I mentioned above. Other than that, it must have been not bad enough for me to notice. Maybe you're just looking at lips too much. I can understand when people notice lip sync issues, they continuously watch mouths instead of the overall picture.

I didn't notice any lip-sync issues, but what did bug me was the fact the characters didn't talk during the game, and the voices were disembodied. If Chloe is talking and I'm looking at her, shouldn't I see her mouth move? ;)

Their mouths do move...I look at them all the time. Their faces even animate - more than their mouths moving

I get the voice out of sync problem too, but never did on my first playthrough, hope it's not my bluray drive wearing out, but I only noticed it when I was playing through it in fast motion, so I thought it was just that.

I stand corrected. Starting again on Hard, I look for Flynn's talking and sure enough, there is some mouth movement. I just think it's so subtle, it doesn't look right. May it's the lack jaw movement or something? But then when trying to see someone chatting, I'd always be looking at the back of their head, and moving the camera to catch them, always miss them!

Also played online with Arwin a bit last night. Just deathmatch, I turned out to be pretty good! Although the playing field was much more in my league. Still can't aim. Had a standoff with one enemy, him with a sniper rifle, me with a pistol, and we were trading shots and missing each other time and again! But U2 crashed twice with PS3 lockups. Needed the PS3 reseting with the power button, and the second time it froze the controller wouldn't turn it on. Had to switch on then pair the controller again.

The frozen controller think I have experienced, but not with U2. I just booted the PS3 up and the controller is unable to sync with the PS3. Maybe FW 3.0, that added this issue, since I can not remember seeing it before that FW was released.

Not trying to worry you, but U2 was the last PS3 title I played to any extent and I got quite a few lock-ups going through the SP campaign. I assumed it was a common issue, but forums suggest otherwise.

Anyway, a few days back I tried to boot up the GT5 demo and my PS3 died. I'm now wondering if those lock-ups were a sign of what I was about to experience?

If I turn on the controller, then turn the PS3 on at the wall, the controller will turn the PS3 on but it won't sync. At all. I have to switch it off and wait for the controller to also turn off.
It's very, very irritating. And completely reproducible.

As for the game, I haven't played it much but I have encountered quite a few bugs already. The oddest was after taking down an enemy, the physics went mad. The body flew into the air, and landed right in front of another enemy.
Having enemies see you through walls during stealth, getting stuck in the scenery, etc, has already happened quite a lot. :-/

I need to play the game more, but so far I'm finding it's a very pretty face on shallow gameplay. Disappointing. Hopefully it'll pick up, because the non-combat/stealth sections are excellent.

And waiting to auto-save before you reload is just infuriating. Sure it's only a few seconds, but for some reason it just annoyed me enormously. If I want to reload that means I messed up, I don't want to save when I've messed up!

That sounds strange, since when I turn on the controller, the PS3 automatically also turns on. Is there any settings where you can force the PS3 not to turn on when a controller is activiated.

Yeah, was a lot of fun! We should definitely do this more often! Shame about the crashes though, haven't had any such issues yet ever. Uncharted is definitely the game that pushes my PS3 the hardest though - the fan kicks into high gear when I play it. Anyway, the updates really make a difference - the match-making is very fast now as are the load times, and it's easier and faster to stay together too. And of course now we're flying the B3D colors while playing.

I've had it a few times where the PS3 doesn't respond to the controller. My guess is it loses sync, so doesn't recognise the controller as being linked to the PS3 and doesn't respond to activation signals. This could also tie in with my Bluetooth headset. Maybe same bizzaro Bluetooth conflict is happening?

I keep the system turned off at the wall.
If I turn the controller on, then turn the PS3 on at the wall - it'll detect the controller and power up immediately. It just won't sync. Ever.

If I turn it on at the wall first, then turn the controller on, it's fine. Just not the other way around.

Got to play through some Co-Op yesterday for the first time. My buddy didn't have a BT headset and the first few rounds were nothing short of a disaster. We were forced to fire up our MacBooks for audio chat, but it filled in nicely. We worked through the village a few times. Looking forward to playing the other 2 levels.
