[PS3] Metal Gear Solid 4 *spoilers*

yea... I agree... it would have been shouted form the rooftops if so but hey... who knows?

Yea. If there's one thing I've learned, it's to never get your panties in a bunch over exclusivity for a game. It can always go either way, so it's best ot just wait it out and see!

Now, exclusive DLC or content for multiplatform games, that'a completely different issue :devilish:

Microsoft debuted the first details on Metal Gear Solid Rising at their E3 press conference this morning, but there's a reason Microsoft wasn't bragging about this Raiden-starring adventure being an Xbox 360 exclusive -- it isn't.

"You know, we didn't say that it was exclusive," clarified Xbox executive and corporate VP John Schappert (he was the guy hosting most of the event) during an interview with me immediately following the press conference.

"We said that the next Metal Gear will be coming [to Xbox 360]," he said.

"I couldn't be more excited about him [Kojima] working on that [Metal Gear Solid Rising] and having that be part of our show," said Schappert. "When I heard about that, I was pretty ecstatic and it was an honor to be able to be on stage with him and announcing his next Metal Gear, which will be on Xbox 360."

Another Big Boss title on PSP would be awesome. A PS3 Big Boss title with a digital copy of a PSP counter part, however, would be much much cooler.

Judging by the leaked PSP-Go video its all but confirmed itll be a PSP release.

Bit of a dissapointment for me was kind of hoping the psp game would be a sidescrolling action game staring ninja raiden but with MGS style cinematics and story. Wanted the ps360 game to be another traditional metal gear staring Big Boss. Never liked raiden at all, he was only cool in mgs4 coz he kept his mouth shut most of the game lol

From my understanding Kojima is not involved in Rising, he even said in Famitsu (the new uncensored bits) that he didn't really want this game to be released but Konami had the final word.
He is however designing&directing a new canon MGS game, that will probably be announced in Sony conference. That is the one i'm waiting for, thoguh i'll probably give Rising a try on my dusty 360 as well ^_^

Agreed. Sadly it looks like BB is taking a back seat on the psp :(

MGS for PSP name leaked

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/01/rumor-listing-reveals-metal-gear-solid-peace-walker-and-new-co/

A seemingly careless listing on Gamespress (a resource for video game-related press releases) suggests that two of Konami/Kojima Production's new titles could be Metal Gear Solid: Peace [Walker] for PSP and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Meanwhile, one last revelation suggests Metal Gear Solid: Rising is not a 360 exclusive but will be going to PC and PS3 as wel

Metal Gear Solid Rising
Lightning Bolt Action

That already heavily suggests it will be an action game spin-off of MGS series, not a true Metal Gear Solid game with sneaking instead of gung-ho action.
I'm thinking it'll be a Devil May Cry - Bayonetta - Ninja Gaiden style game. The moves of Raiden from MGS4 certainly would suit better with that kind of game, than a Solid Snake type sneaky game.
It could be fun, but if outsourced to some other dev than Kojima Prod., there's a risk of another watered down franchise (hopefully they won't let some western dev ruin it like happened with Silent Hill  )

His current vision seems to be portable gaming because he said the youngsters in Japan -- including his son -- has moved on. If my memory still serve me, Kojima's boy only talked to him about MGS when Portable Ops was released. :)

I prefer home console gaming myself. If he's after portable gaming, I hope he makes more use of the network (like Monster Hunters and ad hoc network), plus community building.

I think MGS Rising will be more akin to Tenchu, a stealth game with action elements.

Forget not, that the original Metal Gear series carried the monkier "Tactical Espionage Action" but were not action titles :)

So, we get an action spin off with Raiden and a semi canon PSP game. I'm not as excited as i would have been if a fully realised PS3 MGS would have been anounced, but it can't be Christmas every day now can it ^_^ Seeing how Kojima is involved in the PSP game, it is automatically my most wanted of the two, but both are easily top of my most wanted list so far.

I'm still anxiously waiting for the misterious "Mask" game to be unveiled though :)

Agreed. I actually wish it was the other way arounsd - PW on consoles and Raiden spin off on PSP or just both on consoles and skip the PSP altogether. Depending how PW turns out, I'm seriously thinking about getting a PSP.

I don't think there's anything "semi" about Peace Walker's canon status. kojima wrote it and is producing the game and the MGS4 team are helping development.

Kojima announced the game in Famitsu, MS's Keynote and Konami own conference. For everywhere I read, he is not serving as the writer or director, but will produce MGS:R and it will be dev at Kojima productions. While he won't design the game, write it or direct it, as the producer he will control who the director and writer will be and have final say on game design, storyline and overall quality. Seems to me he will be highly involved just not to the degree, he has been with other titles. Being that I have a love-hate with MGS (its my favorite franchise but I tend to have serious issues with it also), Kojima stepping back a bit may be a good thing.

Btw the other game in those PSW pictures is a new Castlevania. 3D, open world, bla.

The MGS for PSP trailer is fantastic, and the fact that Rising is coming to PC makes me giddy with memories of the awesome MGS4 TGS05 trailer.
