[PS3] Metal Gear Solid 4 *spoilers*

...
Just as true is that lot of key scenes in 4 mean little to a player that hasn't played 3, but make you feel very moved and immensely nostalgic if you did.

Finished MGS4 at last. This pretty much sums up how I feel about the game. I played and liked MGS1-3 when they came out. The way different scenarios in MGS4 correspond to previous games, the way it rounded up the story for different characters, I strongly feel this would be a fitting end to the MGS series. It really feels like the culmination of a 10 year journey.

The feelings I get from this game is quite special and there may not be another game/series to make me feel this way again.

I know this isn't MGS4 related, for the most part, but in Resistance 2, the Prototype Ammo Crates say "MGS4PWNS". Thought that was really awesome.

Darn it,

this game is still in my wall of shame for games that I haven't completed yet. I only have the last chapter to finish...at least I'm almost done:cry:

My Persona 3, Fable II and Mass Effect aren't even opened yet.

Worse, I almost picked up Halo Wars and RE5 today knowing that it will be at least 2 weeks before I even have a chance to play them.

Don't worry, you're not the only gamer with backlog. I have some unplayed games too. There're definitely too many shooters in my library (Socom, KZ2, Resistance, MG4 + MGO, CoD4, UT3, ...).

I may pick up the MGO DLCs once I clear all the work on my plate.

I haven't tried MGO yet, either.

I have a lot of games in my library that aren't complete, but really only a few that I feel guilty for not finishing. Bioshock is one that comes to mind as one I need to finish as well.

Oh yeah, and I still want to pick up LBP and KZ2 too.

Someday I guess.

I didn't finish Bioshock as well because it dragged on for too long (Very close though).

The last MGS4 fight is stunning. Don't forget to watch it on a big screen TV someday too.

I have a 46" 1080P set so that's covered.

Your post has me excited to see this big fight. I should have significantly more free time in 2 weeks if something else doesn't come up.

It's not a big fight, but a beautiful one. Even though I don't care much for the story, I ended up liking Liquid Ocelot because of the fight, even though he's rather cliche as a villian.

You said it yourself, you didn't pay attention to the story, if you were you'd have found out that Liquid Ocelot is as "non-cliche" as it gets actually. Saying more would obviously ruin the game for those that haven't played it and are interested in the story
Liquid and Volgin, now those two are true bad guys archetypes.

And yes, the last fight is simply "poetry in motion". The best fight scene i've ever seen (movies included) and in my Top 3 MGS moments.

Heh heh, the clone siblings and "body snatcher" themes are not uncommon in Japanese manga. I have to admit the Gun of the Patriots is cool though. I like the final fight because Liquid Ocelot appears to have good sportsmanship and he indeed does seem to treasure his brother.

I like how MGO keeps evolving in all directions, and now you can apparently also buy the new content through the PSN store. Who knows one day they'll even use the PSN logon ... ;)

Oh and on that note, patsu, could you reply to this post for me on Neogaf? :D He's using the argument that it's harder to sign up for neogaf than for a konami id ... lol! Duh!

What do you want me to say ? That GAF is too hard to sign up these days ? That's certainly true.

The Konami user id would be a lesser problem if Konami creates more incentives for people to sign up, or to use an Email address as ID.

It's missing the kissing scene. If you don't struggle in Ocelot's death grip, he would spare Snake and give him a brotherly kiss. -__-

Aye, you should find some way (e.g., copy a game save ?) to play the last fight.

The YouTube/GameTrailers videos are too blurry. They also do not convey the frustration and satisfaction when fighting Ocelot.

Just don't forget: pressing (and keeping pressed) triangle while Ocelot taunts, restores quite a bit of Snake's health. On The Boss Extreme, you will get at least one chance at this ;)

We’re happy to announce the official release date and more details about the SCENE Expansion pack for Metal Gear Online. SCENE will be available separately for $9.99 and offered as a bundle with the second MGO Expansion pack, MEME, for $14.99 as well as all three expansion packs – GENE, MEME, and SCENE, for just $17.99 on March 17, 2009 via Metal Gear Online’s in-game shop and Konami’s shop.

I dug out my MGS4 disc, upgraded to 1.3, recalled my Konami Gamer ID plus password against all odds, etc. and finally when I made it to the MGO Store (Playstation Network version) to get all the expansions. The game says: "Unable to acquire product information". What is this Konami ? You don't want business ?

I played a few rounds of deathmatches with other newbies (just to compare with KZ2). The aiming is slightly harder than KZ2 but the game has its charm. I really like the level design. In addition, the lobby is very functional and comprehensive, but the Konami ID system convoluted the entire setup. What a pity.

I guess I should complain on Konami's forum. [off I go]

EDIT:  I can't login to Konami forum because it wouldn't send me my forgotten password based on my email. It is not wrong for Konami to want a second login system but someone on Sony's or Konami's payroll need to look into the entire usability issues. I have sent a mild complain mail to support@konami.com. Hopefully it doesn't go to /dev/null.
