At least we can now rest the case of whether kz3 has OMB or not. ;).

The beta had it as well but the samples were far and few compared to KZ2, and sometimes it'd turn off completely (probably a bug).

Yeah I've seen it in the beta as well but many were still skeptical. Maybe GG has found the sweet spot for the amount of blur needed and I somehow doubt it's technical limitation.

The blur was more visible in KZ2. But then, I guess this Open Beta will showcase gfx the best as the game has gone gold, so probably we'll be getting final code in it.
Nice to know there'll be move support :D !

Has there been any confirmation if the retro maps will be available on PSN or not?

I would like to see old maps in the new non-QAA + more FX engine, but I don't care about the other bonus stuff of the CE. I don't understand why they want people to be playing different maps on launch day, there should be parity on launch day , at least  !
Add to that , people on my local forum are telling me that I am crazy cos I am not ready to pay extra for it. Why should I ??? People should have the same maps on Launch day, DLC is for re-invigorating the community when they get bored after a while, not to divide gameplay on the very first day!

May be for bot playing ?

:???: Some confusion here. I want to have those maps, yes, more than anything to see them in the new non-blurry look, but I can't fathom why GG is giving them to some players and not to some. I belive everybody should have the same maps when a game launches. Keeps the matches full, and people happy for having bought the game.

A little nitpick, I have been watching the new MP trailer and I can't find Muzzle flash shadows anywhere :( :( ! Are they gone?
The lens flare is there, not the complicated one from KZ2, but a simpler and subtler one. OMB can be seen, but again seems reduced than KZ2, but I couldn't find the trademark KZ2 muzzle flash shadows :( ! No wonder the MP maps of KZ3 don't look that busy. I somehow liked the look of KZ2 MP maps more than the look of KZ3 mp maps revealed so far. Frozen Dam is the only one that looks as cool as the KZ2 maps, but Corinth HW, Turbine and the Boulevard seem lacking artistically.

The SP trailer kicks ass and looks lovely, but the MP maps seem lacking in .......ummm.......drama(?) ! dunno if thats the right word..

Thats my opinion, btw..................others may like the new maps better.

About the muzzle flash in MP, only the machine gun from Jetpack casts shadow as I have observed. It's a shame they didn't keep it in kz3 MP since I really loved them in kz2. The lens flare is still the same isn't it? I don't see the difference really. But all in all I guess GG has to tone down some of the effects to cater for the much larger scope and other improvements so depends on how you like the trade off.

It worked like that in alpha code, we have seen Gamespot presentation of actual beta code with MFS for ISA rifle in, but that was from SP...

Oh my oh my, the graphics keep amaze me ceaselessly. Also OPM give killzone 3 9/10 as well.

The lighting is quite flat, low res effects and textures everywhere, very average technically.

But especially the lighting is where it is falling behind.

Killzone 2 was amazing for it's day, but Killzone 3 is just, yawn.

The have though got it quite well balanced with colors and making it look coherent. But looks like most surfaces have no mapping it all it's just color texture and thus saves a lot of VRAM and also perfomance to dedicate for higher res color textures. The result though is more detail on surfaces atleast in stills vs motion. End results are good though but not amazing.

It ranges from good to bad either by lack of shadows/shadow vasting lightsources, detail, mapping or res. Can be seen in direct feed shots like below.

Response to C2 thread?

Both threads are going in the wrong direction right now :???:

Looks totally fine to me, textures, lighting and effects are all well balanced and detailed. MLAA does a tremendous job of pimping up the IQ as well. I know it's not HDR but the nice lighting and hundreds of dynamic lights are used really effective here to bring out all those normalmaps to life.
