Both turrents and airbots are incredibly weak, not only does their damage\accuracy suck ass but they also get destroyed by 5 magnum shots. Im much more effective running around killling people with a pistol than 4 turrents +2 airbots combined.

The few times i actually get killed by turrents\airbots is when they manage to hit me in the head, which happends maybe 1% of the time.
There is no way to dominate all games if you play as a sniper , no way ...

Then you my friend needs to learn how to play as a sniper. I easily average 1.1 kills per minute, 1.8 kill\death ratio playing as a sniper. Even on the smaller maps, where i usually just run around with the magnum, and only pull out the sniper rifle on few occasions. Oh and this is while im stoned.

Sober my K\D as a sniper is usually between 3.0 - 6.0.

If you ask me , except the Assault class , classes are very well balanced ... Actually , if you think you have limited rockets [ only 3 ] , it is kinda balanced too

Assault class is by far the second strongest class, just because of the insane amount of health they got. The limit on rocket doesn't really matter, simply fire 3 rockets, kill 3 people, pick up one of their weapons and keep on moving. Only hazard is sometimes blowing up yourself :)

I am bored to read the whole post, but really I have a 2mbit connection and the worst thing that has occurred to me in terms of lag was someone dying 1sec after I have killed him.

Somebody dying 1 second after youve killed him, is equal to 1000ms lag. Which is completely unaccebtible for online play.
I loved the multiplayer mode and based on your comments my first thoughts is that you didnt get the hang of the weapons and classes yet, hence your frustration with the maps and classes.

Trust me, this has nothing to do with it. In random rooms, i can beat 99,5% of all the players i play, regardless of what class i play, its just that the 1 shot 1 kill sniper is much more effective then the rest.

(tbh i haven't really encountered any player yet that was significantly better than me in KZ2 in my 30 hours of playing this game. Not saying that there aren't any, there are many, i just haven't had the fortune of running into them).
 
Oste - Not to derail the thread, but if you aren't fond of KZ2 Single Player, I think it may be a case of being burnt out of the FPS Genre in general. Honestly, what FPS titles really innovate? Not Bioshock. Halo didn't. CoD4 didn't bring anything new to the table. There are certain things that come with the genre, and writing it off as "something you've played before under a different theme" is silly, IMO. I think you're suffering more from being burnt out on FPS titles in general, than you are KZ2.

Its not like i expect them to reinvent the wheel or anything, its just that the very much of what was happening in the singleplayer campaign just felt like GG played a few games and put the same battle scenario in their own game.

But your right, it might be that im starting to get burned out on FPS titles in general, but that only goes for singleplayer. I luw multiplayer fps.

I thought the last few levels were pretty well done. The outside Palace fight is the best large scale encounter for me (It felt like right in the middle of a warzone). The mini-bosses encounters, the Cruiser cannon and Mecha levels break things up a little. The Mecha level is one of my favorites (reminds me of MGS4 Chapter 4, and better than the Goliath level in Resistance 1).

My problem with SP is more because I played it like a normal FPS instead of exploiting the destructible covers :)

Yeah but that was the worst case scenario and lets not forget that I have a 2mbit connection and play on 32 player matches. In Gears 2 there are only 10 players and the lag issues I encounter are much worse. The lag I get in Killzone 2 isnt worse than what I get in other games which are supposed to have dedicated servers.

On April 22nd at 8AM GMT, Guerrilla Games will release the next game update to their hit First Person Shooter Killzone 2, exclusive for the Playstation3.
The primary main aim of patch 1.24 is to enable the released versions of the game to play with Japanese release due on the 23rd of April 2009.
It also enables support for the first DLC pack – “Steel and Titanium” available on the Playstation®Store from the 30th of April 2009 and we have added three additional ranks to the top-end of the rankings known as ‘Hardcore ranks’.
There are also some minor improvements on finding and joining friends and clan member, but we will continue to improve on the system with the next update.

The patch is 57MB large and a full list of fixes and feature updates are below:

AI - Bots now skipping disabled/destroyed MGs in warzone when requesting mounted guns.
AI - Do not claim waypoints for the previous character when it's dead.
AI - Fixes bots getting stuck trying to arm/disarm S&D object when mission is already over.
Campaign - Fix for potential progression bug in Salamun Bridge.
Clan - User name, not users clan displayed in rankings
Clan - Winning 10 Clan Challenges causes the user to become stuck on the medal awards screen.
Controls - Lean & Peak - Zoom hold on and out of ammo it switches between regular/scope view rapidly.
Cosmetic - Blue screen tint which indicates scout cloak is occasionally enabled and will remain indefinitely.
Cosmetic - White squares on the grenade counter merge together when displayed in 1080p
Create Game - "Badge Combination" option does not work properly
Create Game - Online - "clan only" presets apply even after a player leaves a clan
DLC - DLC pack 1 - 'Steel & Titanium' support DLC - New Loading screens advertising the first DLC pack.
Exploit - Helghan Industries - Player getting out of map fix.
Exploit - Radec Academy - User is able to gain access to the roof when revived in a specific location.
Exploit - Reviving player stuck in wall collision can result in him spawning outside level
Exploit - Salamun Market - One sided wall allows people to be seen and shot from outside where they cant see or fire out
Exploit - Tharsis Depot - Player can get out of the "normal" play area and can get into some sniper/camp spots
Feature - Invite player from friendslist Feature - Join Clan Member list added.
Feature - Join Game - 17-24 players filter.

Feature - MP - Moving while seeing scores after pressing SELECT

Network - Server side fix for full games being displayed incorrectly.
Network - User is unable to use the 'Join Clan Member' tab due to Network Error Code 20002.
Online - File-synching with the Japanese release of Killzone 2 on the 23rd of April.
Sound - Turret placing sound continues when killed.
Stability - Crash when synching gamestate after a full mapcycle
Stability - Hang on a screen with a blank message window just before a message appears.
Stability - Reducing the load on the server related to syncing the buddylist
Stats - If a clan wins 24 Clan Challenges and goes to the result screen, the medal acquisition screen, which normally displays when you win 25 games, will display.
Stats - Number of air-support grenades used by tacticians does not add to the stats of joined user correctly.
Stats - Number of spawn-grenades used by tacticians does not add to the stats of joined user correctly.
Stats - User sometimes does not receive 1000 valor award when winning 10 Clan Challenges.
Text - % character not displayed correctly on the creating game dialogue box after selecting to create game.
Text - If a client receives an invite from a clan which has a '$' character in the clan name, the recipient will get kicked

I dont know which servers you play at but it seems you play against noobs ... Both airbots & turrets can detect where you are even if you are cloaked ...

Come & join GAFfers sometime [ some of them are really , really good ] and see what airbots & turrets capable of ... Especially in small maps like Tharsis Depot ... You have no chance against an engineer with boost or with C4 as a sniper :] ...

It has nothing to do with airbots and turrets detecting me when im cloaked. The fact that the game pace in KZ2 is slow combined with a one shot one kill weapon makes easy kills. This is the main advantage of the sniper. The invisibility & spot\mark is a nice feature aswell ofcourse.

Airbots and turrets to do little damage to kill people, 99,9% of the time i run into a turrent, i can still either shot it down quicker than it can kill me (4-5 shots with a magnum) or take cover, shot a few shots, then repeat.

Come & join GAFfers sometime [ some of them are really , really good ] and see what airbots & turrets capable of ... Especially in small maps like Tharsis Depot ... You have no chance against an engineer with boost or with C4 as a sniper :] ...

im not joining their clan i just want to show Keyn that turrets suck and since apparently, every one i encounter in KZ2 are noobs according to him. Im just going to play with a match or three.

Okay, so I finally made it back to weekday gaming land (I will be gone again soon though).

Managed to become a Sergeant Major (only clocked a pitiful 8.5 hour playtime). Someone please explain to me how these badges (or seals) work ? I have "Natural Born Killer" and "Corpse Counter". I thought betan mentioned badges only last within one Warzone session ? They show up on my stats. Does that mean that they are persistent now ?
 
Yes. Bonuses are applied in all games. That's why it's worth pursuoing badges instead of points. It also encourage cheat levels, just levelling to unlock skills that give experienced players an advantage. Seems quite back-to-front to me, an inverse handicapping. The better you do, the easier the game becomes.

I really should get around to reporting my busted disk to Sony!

I just got the Light Machine-gun. It seems more powerful and accurate than my favorite SMG. It takes too long to reload though.

There has been a lot of discussion on the forums about the lack of a ‘party system’ in Killzone 2 and rest assured, we are working hard on creating features that will make it easier for you to play with your friends online. These features include being able to join the same faction of a friend already in-game directly from the join game menus, manually being able to switch faction during gameplay and making existing squads consistent over multiple rounds; no more need to create a new squad every single round. These features will be coming to a patch near you soon!

I played some more (Currently a Lieutenant with Engineer's badge). I see your point now. The badges and higher level gave me more goodies (e.g., ammo, grenades, ...), which make the game more enjoyable. I think they should give more ammo and slightly more incentives for new players to feel happy about themselves. Otherwise, if the new players don't like the first 30 minutes, they will leave the game. One of my early complains was I ran out of ammo way too often.

How come I don't see the Assault class, Tacticians and Snipers anymore ? Did Guerilla Games do anything to hide them from lower level players ? Did they add match-making ? I still see the Medic and Engineers (which are great lower level classes). Overall, the experience is quite a bit better than the last time I played it.
 
I think rank-graded servers have the middling abilities/ranks capped at engineer. Yoiu should just see medics, engineers, and grunts on such servers. The next level of ability is Open Season, and the earliest level is just grunts. Perhaps you're just picking games at your rank, or the game is doing a better job of finding games at your rank instead of letting in much higher ranked players, which I have experienced. Some sad fools appearing in a noobs' game as a cloaked sniper or tactician, messing it about.
 
Yeah well, as soon as I posted above, I ran into Tacticians, Assault Soldiers and Snipers all at once in my next game. :LOL:

They do make objective games in large map much more intense. We fought in the desert level; practically toe to toe, claw to claw during the last one minute of "Search and Destroy". It ended in a close draw. This would have been a mass confusion in an indoor map. :)
