[PS3] Killzone 2

Yeah. If anyone wants mine, you can have it. I rarely like themes, and tend not to use them.

I watched one of the replays on your page Renegade, and the first one I watched had a team-kill right at the start :D Very funny.

I would like to use the code :D Whats the code for?

You're still getting it though ... heh. I can't help it guys, deep is one of my better PSN friends. ;)

2nd KZ2 live chat starting in 30 minutes

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/02/23/second-killzone-2-live-chat-coming-this-wednesday/

If you missed our last live chat, Guerrilla’s Seb Downie took on your questions live, ranging from topics such as Killzone.com, multiplayer ribbons, and unsolicited marriage proposals. You can re-live the session here. With thousands (!) of you participating in the chat, it’s no surprise that many questions were left unanswered. That’s why Jan-Bart Van Beek and Geert Donker will be back this Wednesday at noon Pacific/3pm Eastern for another hour of Killzone 2 mayhem.

My question was unanswered last time. I forgot what it is.

The URL is http://blog.us.playstation.com

EDIT: Event just started.

Guerrilla Games - JB: 30 locked and pretty much solid 99% of the time. I think the guys at digital foundry dissected the whole game.. have a look on their site... beware of spoilers though
Oh they're paying attention... lol

About the playable ad...

[Comment From Ackers]
How long did it take you to make the ad???

Guerrilla Games - JB: It took us about 2 months to do the main part of it... and we're now working on making the actual app and optimizing the hell out of it.

[Comment From zone2kill]
Captain Narville at the beginning you see a close up of his eye. Is that how it really looks in game or is that touched up?

[Comment From MarinoBrea]
Will we be able to run the commercial in actual gameplay speed? Is the commercial 1080p native or does it upscale to 1080p? How many frames per second does the action run on when played at real time speed?

Guerrilla Games - JB: No touching up. It's all from the engine, but we did put an very detailed texture on his eye for that shot in specific.

[Comment From rospondek]
Will the camera be free or 'fixed' on bullet? I mean will I be able to fly thru the whole stage and see everything?

Guerrilla Games - JB: The game and the ad run at 720p

[Comment From Sean]
Will the 4D ad have the same amount of detail as the commercial?

Guerrilla Games - JB: You can have a limited degree sround the bullet and through the scene. But you won;t be able to do crazy flying stuff as you might just completely go through walls or floors

[Comment From MarinoBrea]
Does the commercial use anti-alias, and if so, what type?

[Comment From StalkingSilence-PSLS]
That is, are the particle physics used in the ad (cement flying up after bullet skimming) actually utilized in-game? Or are they enhanced and run on the real KZ2 engine for the ad?

Guerrilla Games - JB: the 4d version will use quincunc anti-aliasing...just like the game engine

Guerrilla Games - JB: they are enhanced becuse we needed to run the whole ad in super slow motion. Our in-game explosions needed extra work to run slowly, as they are set up to be very "bam"-y

...

[Comment From Brad Chiasson]
what does "in engine" mean?

Guerrilla Games - JB: In engine means that all frames come directly from a ps3, no additional editing, touching up or mucking about.

EDIT: About the game...

[Comment From THE_TERRORIZER]
the demo was absolutely insane.....how long did killzone 2 take to make?

Guerrilla Games - JB: 3.5 years sorta... 2 years of full on production

Anyone else having trouble getting online? keep on getting network request timed out errors. Are the servers even live for europe yet?

I heard the servers are online but GG took them down briefly for patching. Should be up by now.

EDIT: There...

Guerrilla Games - JB: Servers are running at the moment. They might have gone down a few minutes ago for a brief patch, but all is looking very well.

Last update on this (I hope)

After carefully looking into this, reading the posts, talking to a lot of you directly and analysing the controls at GG we have come to the conclusion that there are no changes required to the system. If at all, any changes to the controls would put the majority of people who have not had problems or have adapted out of whack, which may be more serious. Killzone 2 is a weighty, slower, more tactical first person experience that focuses on immersion. It is not a twitchy, split-second gun-wielding experience like some shooters. Also, the online experience is quicker as we've made the controls and animations a little faster during design.

I want to thank you all for your often constructive feedback, both positive and negative and we'll continue to take it all on board to help us make better games. It is almost time folks. Lets enjoy it.

So are the controls changed from the demo? Have they got rid of the lag & acceleration?
Here we go again.

Controls are same as demo. Online is slightly different. After the first couple of levels and an hour or so online the controls have held up well and am aiming with ease, pulling off headshots just as regularly, if not more, as any other FPS i have played.

Does anyone else think that the lightning effect shooting out of the medic's zapper looks pretty crap?

Is there actually anything about this game that you don't think is crap? Or sub standard, or not up to your, obviously, outrageous expectations?

Or do you just get off on be on a downer all the time?

Well that effect does look pretty bad, compared to how good everything else looks in the game. And it will be highly visible if you play as the medic class.

I was wondering why it didn't receive the same lavish attention to detail as everything else.

Looks alright to me. Not eye candy but not ugly either. Are you expecting a rainbow and angels singing behind the wounded ? :)

As long as it revives my buddies cleanly, I won't complain. If they have time to make this pretty, I'd rather they invest the time in destructible environment.
