You were a little bit faster, here are the bullet-points from the famitsu article:

PS3 peripherals:

Six-Axis Wireless Controller:
5000 Yen
Can be charged with the USB cable
A full charge last up to 30 hrs.
Lithium ion accumulator

Memory Card Adapter:
1500 Yen
can be used to transfer PS2, PS data to HDD
connects to USB port

BD Remote Control:
3600 Yen
uses Blue-tooth

Thanks hupfinsgack, 30 hour charge isnt too bad, not bad at all. Lets just hope those batteries in the controller dont explode in our hands.

Couldn't they have made one of teh memorycard slots a PS1/2 memcard compatibel, and sell for example a CF adapteer that goes into the PS1/2 memcard slot?
Edit: Ok, the ceheaper PS3 has no memcard slots, so it would have been imposible.

Good, there'll be a remote, I wished for that as the "sixaxis" is hardly the ideal remote for Blu-ray.
Too bad it's Bluetooth, not IR or even WiFi,a s it'll be impossible to program the PS3 BD to an universal remote, though personally I like seperate remotes over those midprice UR's. A good, expensive Pronto or such would be nice to have but for a remote too expensive.

The prices are quite affordable on these accessories, $40 for a sixaxis would be less than I thought it would be, but I fear the prices in US and EU will not be directly converted from yen.

I had hoped to use my Harmony remote, I had also hoped the remote would have been backlit.

I'm glad that controler is 40 bucks. Rumble would just make it over 50$.

Lair developers said to one of 1up.com newsguy, that TILT can sense when you press buttons on controler. Its so sensitive! I think that playing with rumble and tilt "ON" will produce very weird gameplay... :)

Besides the console itself, japanese prices for games and accessories are generally cheaper. and those are the prices converted after taxes. But yeah, I'd like some more offical confirmation as well.

I'm interested in how long it takes the ps3 controller to get to a full charge. I'm guessing 1-2 hours like the psp.

On the other hand, the advantage of Bluetooth is that finally I don't have to worry anymore about pointing that darn remote in the right direction (in our current case, just around a wooden beam). I can live with that.

But then I can definitely also live with the sixaxis as a remote, because it's wireless now and I already got really comfortable with using the DS2.

At any rate, in his Kikizo interview, Kaz Hirai already indicated that one of the major reasons why they decided to forfeit rumble (so this is definitively out for those who didn't know yet), is because they didn't want the price of the controllers to become too high. Seems like they have kept their word in that respect.

hmm... Games might be priced in japan as well...

http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/2006/10/03/103,1159855395,61170,0,0.html
Konami's Mahjong game 5,229 yen (44 U.S. dollars)
SEGA GOLF CLUB 7,140 yen (60 U.S. dollars)
Genji 5,980 yen (50 U.S. dollars)
Resistance:FoM 5,980 yen (50 U.S. dollars)
Gundam: TIS 7,329 yen (62 U.S. dollars)
RR7 7,329 yen (62 U.S. dollars)
Koei's Mahjong game 5,040 yen (42 U.S. dollars)
AC4 8,190 yen (69 U.S. dollars)
Sonic 7,140 yen (60 U.S. dollars)

1st party games seem to be cheaper, and From Software's game looks pretty expensive.

Yea, a backlighting at least would have been nice for the remote, as it is I think it'll be quite useless for me as my room willbe pretty dark because I have a front projector for Blu-ray moveis and PS3.

I guess there'll be a better Logitech 3rd party remote quite soon anyway, maybe even a new "Harmony" remote which will have PS3 compatibility and Bluetooth plus IR.

No Sony keyboard and mouse for PS3? A kb with a crosspad and triangle, circle, square, cross buttons for easy XMB navigation and typing on the same device would be great.

Logitech, I have my faith on you! Bring me a backlit keyboard tailored for PS3!!

The 1st party titles (Resistance and Genji) are unexpectedly cheap for Japanese pricing, probably due to the universal disc around the world.

For the reference, Dragon Ball Z Sparking NEO for PS2 is 7140 yen, Dead Rising for Xbox 360 is 7980 yen, and Zelda Wii is 6800 yen (all tax incl.).

EDIT: English PR, and 7 players for simultaneous use confirmed

I don't get it why they must make the remote buttons so small and alike and close to each other.
There is a lot of empty space on that remote, there would have been plenty of room for a less cluttered design.
Ok, I understand it's prefererred for the sake of ergonomics to not have buttons all the way to the bottom of the remote, to be able to access all the buttons without sliding your hand up and down the remote, but even accounting the empty space needed, there's still a lot of room for bigger, more defined buttons.

Logitech, I have my faith on thee.

hmm...ign is saying 30 minutes to recharge. Is that right 30 minutes recharge gets you 30 hours? I'm guessing a mistranslation somewhere?

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/736/736932p1.html
Sony also revealed today a few new bits about the controller. Each controller will have a Lithium Ion battery built in. You'll be able to connect to the PS3 via USB to charge the battery, with a single charge taking 30 minutes. And yes, you'll be able to play games while the controller is charging. It's unknown if Sony will be including a USB cable with the controller.

I checked back to the famitsu article and it definitely says up to 30hrs with a full charge. There's no mention of how long the charging takes. I don't know where IGN / famitsu has their info from.

EDIT: The official site says also 30 hrs with a full-charge. So IGN might have it wrong.

Yeah a 30 minute charge sounded too fast to me. I'm guessing it might be a hour or so.
Thanks for clearing that up.

30 minutes sounds pretty plausible. It's not like the sixaxis is doing a whole lot more than say, my blackberry phone, especially with no rumble included. The PSP can also recharge quite well over a USB cable (though it has to have an adapter that goes into the power plug rather than directly recharge over the USB port, which would have been even nicer)

But we'll know the final answer soon enough. I'm just overall happy that it works with USB, and am also interested in how long the included USB cables are going to be. A great advantage of such standard stuff is that you can get extension cables easily enough, but it would still be nice if the included cables are at least as long as the ones on the DS2.

Sony's got some fast-charging battery tech (see, there are some advantages to Sony batteries! ;) ), and a product like their Walkman 'Bean' is a good example of some products that use it. So I wouldn't be surprised if that's the sort of battery tech that gets used here as well.

I just hope that Sony's recent battery fiasco doesn't slash their R&D budget at that division!

Super Quick Battery Charge3

A three minute charge will provide up to three hours of playback.

Up to 50 Hours4 of Playback Life with Rechargeable Embedded Battery

Internal battery provides up to 50 hours of continuous playback on each charge.

Keep in mind that Sony already has other devices with pretty quick charge capability. Most of their current flash mp3 players can get a 75% charge off of USB in 3min... So a 30min charge time isn't entirely unreasonable...
