40GB PS3 to hit Japan for 39,980 Yen with a ceramic white model on Nov. 11

The spec is the same as the EU version, it launches on Nov. 11 in Japan. The price is 39,980 Yen ($340). Power consumption is 280W (100W down from older models), it weighs 4.4Kg (down from 5Kg). It comes with SIXAXIS, but DUALSHOCK 3 will be separately released on the same day for 5500 Yen. The 60GB version and 20GB version will get price drops on Oct. 17, 20GB = 44980 Yen ($383) and 60GB = 54980 Yen ($468), both get 5000 Yen cut and come with a coupon for Spiderman 3 BD.

100 Watts down pretty much confirms 65nm where a few less air vents don't why does Japan get all the funky-coloured devices and the rest of the world doesn't?

And I am sure 243€ would be a much bigger hit than 399€ as well and the Japs already have the 360 dirt cheap as well.

AFAIK the 60GB version's price is 62790 Yen (59800 + tax), so it's a 7810 Yen cut for that model.

I want one too. Nice. I see a second PS3 in my future anyway (one that I can use for Cell/Linux dev and online gaming when the TV/PS3 in the living room is 'occupied' ) and I'd love a white one. Don't need one for BC so that's no bother, really just cheaper = better.

Hmm afaik the BD region for Japan is the same as it is for USA, so getting my hands on a cheap (yeah right as import i will surely be cheap) could be a cool way for me to gain that Region in my setpup.
