SCEE today revealed the official launch date for its broadband network gaming service, making it the last of the next-gen consoles to go online in Europe. June 11, 2003 is the glorious date set by tyhe company for PS2 online gaming to take off, after a successful consumer trial period over the last couple of months.
Consumers in possession of a PS2 and broadband connection will be faced with a number of options on launch day. The basic Network Adaptor Kit will retail for £24.99, comprising the Network Adaptor and Network Adaptor Disk.

Hmmm, this is kinda interesting Sony is essentially enforcing the need for broadband ( i know a few other titles that already do this as well). I do recall so many people cheering fo rthe fact you could use a regular modem in north america, and how dumb it was for MS to make xbox live boradband only... I had a feeling this would happen and sony would end up doing similar things.

Feeling or not, they probably did what they had to do. I very much doubt they wouldn't include 56K support if they could. It probably has something to do with the online infrastructure in Europe.
