64K!!!?!? Jesus...

Well i'm:

Country: UK
Type of Connection: ADSL
Brand/ISP name: Bulldog Broadband
Connection Speed: 4Mbps down / 512kbps up
Data Transfer Limit (if applicable): None. Ever. Limits should die.
No of Hours (if applicable): Limits should rot in hell.
Any Comment: Amazing, if it weren't for a prob with my line (at my house) that keeps cutting the line off, but it will be fixed... eventually...
Average Data Transfer Speed (upload): Around 80KB?
Average Data Transfer Speed (download): 500KB, sometimes more, when i have enough stuff to download. Websites are getting better, but usually i need 3 torrents dloads at the same time, if not more, to top up my connection, as it's rare to get torrents that download at more than 200KB. Never found a torrent that downloads at more than 350KB or so, although many websites allow me to download at more than 500KB
Expense per month (in USD): UK£40 including phone.

Type of Connection:ADSL
Brand/ISP name:Telia
Connection Speed:8Mbit down/768kbit up

Not wanting to spoil anyone's day, I'd have to confess that although my connection is quite fat, it does not cure cancer, nor does it do my dishes. I find that most use is limited by server response time, so that I feel little difference from the 1Mbit/1Mbit line at my parents' house in everyday use..

Country: Norway
Type of Connection: LAN
Brand/ISP name: Uninett
Connection Speed: 155Mbit
Data Transfer Limit (if applicable): 20GB pr. 2 days
Any Comment:
Average Data Transfer Speed (upload): Depends on target
Average Data Transfer Speed (download): Depends on source
Expense per month (in USD): Included in rent.

The real benefit of living on a student campus-like area, with these internet connections, is that the 5-7 (haven't counted) different campuses around the city are connected through a common LAN, and that the largest has the connection out to the regular internet. On the Campus Network, there are a couple of DC++hubs where one can find nearly anything at more than descent speeds (up to 10MB/s).
Other than that, certain torrents will from time to time reach 4-5MB/s, some fast servers (Microsoft, ATi, nVidia and their likes) also from time to time manage to max out the line, but most of the time the connection does not benefit workflow more than a 4Mbit line would..

Think I will miss it when I eventually move out, though...

Any Comment:good while it works, the worst tech support ever (OK I know I have not tried Wanadoo or any such crap, but it must be in top 10 ever) are a LOT like 100x better in the last 6-12 months, still not really good though, but just OK now.

The above is hooked up to a 4-port DSL/router and is shared by my family on all our PCs and is more than enough for us all to cruise on very fast, but....

Country: USA
Type of Connection: Cable
Brand/ISP name: Comcast
Connection Speed: 6Mb/520
Data Transfer Limit (if applicable): None
No of Hours (if applicable): None
Any Comment: INSANELY zippy, but not as reliable as the DSL.
Average Data Transfer Speed (upload): 400
Average Data Transfer Speed (download): Whatever the servers can give me, generally above 1Mb.
Expense per month (in USD): $23, including modem rental

This is hooked up exclusively to Bubbles (my PC) and is my primary file sharing/internet connection so I don't screw up the families connection anymore.

Sometimes if'n I'm lucky I can trick Azureus into uploading on both lines which I tend to try and do overnight, but it's also nice to have a back-up in case one of them goes out.

(Yeah, I know I'm totally spoiled and I totally love it. 8) )

EDITED BITS: A bolding formatting fix.

Country: AUS
Type of Connection: ADSL
Brand/ISP name: Internode
Connection Speed: 512/128
Data Transfer Limit (if applicable): 30,000 Megabytes ( only downloads and a handful of free sites )
No of Hours (if applicable): Unlimited
Any Comment: AT 30,000 MB its capped to 64/64
Average Data Transfer Speed (upload): 12 kB
Average Data Transfer Speed (download):512kB
Expense per month : $70 AUS so about $49 US ( not including line rental which is either 18.95,24.95 or 27.95 from tesltra )

5 years ago it would have been more like $90 for 3 gig a month then like $0.18 per meg after that. In about 15 months the majority of australia should hopefully have access to decent internet with the national monopoly finally uncapping ADSL so we can get more then 1.5mbit/256kbit ( supposedly I believe they will allow up to like 10 or 12mbit on ADSL2/2+ modems the maxium speed they will allow hasn't been anounced yet but it won't be 24mbit ).

Country: Italy
Type of Connection: Adsl
Brand/ISP name: Telecom Smart
Connection Speed: 1280/256
Data Transfer Limit (if applicable): none
No of Hours (if applicable): none
Any Comment: Just uploaded line from previous 640/256 to present, for free, but it doesn't "feel" any different, although at 640/256 was always full speed.
Average Data Transfer Speed (upload): see comment
Average Data Transfer Speed (download): see comment
Expense per month (in USD): 37€ (48$ish)

Country: the Netherlands
Type of Connection: Cable
Brand/ISP name: @home
Connection Speed:5000/600
Data Transfer Limit (if applicable): None
No of Hours (if applicable): All
Average Data Transfer Speed (upload): Depends a lot, 32-128 KB/s
Average Data Transfer Speed (download): Depends a lot, 300KB/s-1MB/s
Expense per month (in USD): 47,50 Euro (~$62)
Any Comment: It varies a lot, especially the upload isn't very good. With a lot of connections open (filesharing), the line sometimes slows down to a crawl. But the download is generally very fast and mostly capped by the server.

Country: Brazil
Type of Connection: ADSL
Brand/ISP name: BrTurbo (Brasil Telecom)
Connection Speed: 300Kbps
Average Data Transfer Speed (upload): 12Kb/s
Average Data Transfer Speed (download): 29 Kb/s
Expense per month (in USD): u$ 25
Any Comment: Download speed varies according to source, obviously.

I was starting to feel pretty damn bad after seeing Worm, Guden, and cloudscape. But now seeing that the rest of the world is pretty shitty too, with high prices, makes me feel better. :)

Who says USA internet options suck? :)

Having 5 dynamic ip:s is pretty sweet.
very good traffic stability, although I've had some problems with the DHCP crapping out on me occasionally(maybe once every two months on average). Also, if there's a short power-out or glitch, the (ISP's)switch in the house seems to reset, and sometimes takes an half hour to come back.

Average Data Transfer Speed (upload): ~1.1MB/s

Average Data Transfer Speed (download): ~1.1MB/s
(note: transatlantic traffic seems trafficshaped per TCP connection somehow... you get about 350-400kB/s, but if you have three active you max out)

Expense per month (in USD): 320SEK ~= $45

Country: UK
Type of Connection: ADSL
Brand/ISP name: Pipex
Connection Speed: 512\256

No of Hours (if applicable):Unlimited
Average Data Transfer Speed (upload): not sure, should be around 30.
Average Data Transfer Speed (download): 60KBs
Expense per month (in USD): £24.99 = $48

Any Comment: Getting a 1MB upgrade soon, free of charge, cant wait!!!!
