Playstation 5 [PS5] [Release November 12 2020]

Just for context, what do you think about cybertruck?

Thats funny, I think the Cybertruck is ridiculously fugly, but I plan to get one, if it launches in EU within the next 2-3 years. Ohh I have also put in a pre-order for PS5 at one of those places that just put in a place holder price.

Booring. My living room's entirely purple to match my Gamecube.
This is ToTTenTranz's pad ;)

My living room is white with black TV stand so... ;)
I was gonna say! Pretty much every room is white, so if anything, the white PS5 will blend in better than the usual black box. Which to me has never really 'blended in' anywhere. And ultimately I don't really look at it apart from when i turn it on and off, unless I do that from the controller.

I've been talking about (and mentioned) the staple neutral colours, black, white and grey/metal and the reasons for them.
Yet you started the discussion by replying to my post saying not everything needs to be black...

A dogma is an idea entrenched in authority, not reason, and for me, dogma implies stupidity such as people following dogmatic religions to negative consequences or adhering to wrong ideas because they aren't allowed to consider obviously better alternatives. I've never known the adjective 'dogmatic' used in a positive fashion.
Yeeeeeah.. you're making it sound 500x more negative than I ever meant it to be.

Companies aren't making neutral-colour products because they are told to and can't think for themselves, but because they think for themselves and come to the same conclusions, especially when they've offered alternative stylings and found they haven't sold well.
Of course not. 99.9% of the time companies follow trends, they don't define them.

I was just suggesting for people to keep their minds open to a bit more variability in their device's color other than black (which in fact is a lack of color).
You went from that to claiming I was calling companies incompetent and people stupid. Geez..

U jealous of me pad's fabulousness?
:p

I'll try to post my own IKEA-enhanced living room when I get home later today.

No worries. Just goes to show how choice of words affects one's message, and why a dialogue is needed to thrash out what people mean. ;)

You asked why everyone sticks with black. There's good reason - it works. It's the "little black dress." If you make a living-room product and sell it in black, you won't lose sales because of it clashing. If you make it bright yellow, or even some muted colour like burgandy, people will avoid it because it clashes with their decor. Then you start to have to worry about creating a range of colours to fit people's decor, and that's not cost effective. Black provides unobtrusive uniformity around which other lifestyle choices can be made that aren't dependent on functionality for aesthetics (you buy an amp or TV or console for what it does, and don't want to have to miss out on features because the product looks ghastly in your environment).

Not everyone's cup of tea, but we love it.

I much prefer something interesting and diverse to plain and boring. Maybe that's just me though?

More power to you. Glad you have a place you like. That would have me running screaming, turning into a basket case, drinking heavily or considering a gallon of gasoline in a matter of a couple of hours. That literally physically hurts me just to look at on instagram!

Interesting how the disc drive really looks like an external drive that is integrated into the casing.

Also, I still don't understand how that stand is meant to keep the PS5 stable when it is placed horizontally.

Then again, this 3D model probably isn't made with precise measurements.

I also wonder what is the port next to the USB for. Strange that they have only one USB at the front
