    Yes, those symbols are just the buttons on PS2's controller cut in 1/2, 1/3, and 2/3. Everyone pretty much figured that out. But what people, including I, are wondering is what it means? Why is it cut? So there maybe meaning behind it, or there maybe not.

    As for the 3? Well most people would agree, including me and yourself, that it's just the 3 in PS3. But the 3 alone could be nothing significant. But "WELCOME CHANG3" is a different story. As in what "change?"

    And who could blame them. Sometimes simple things can be boring. :wink:

    Maybe the new eyetoy has a part in this? Half buttons = half control with the controller and the other half with Eyetoy, eye ball tracking technology. :shock:

    After an other look at it, there are four different ads:

    Red: Shows 1/3 of each button symbol

    Violette: Shows 1/2 of each button symbol

    Blue: Shows 1/2 of each button symbol, but not centered

    Green: Shows 2/3 of each button symbol

    From top to bottom the symbols are triangle, circle, cross, square (on the pad that's clockwise from top).

    1/3 + 2/3 + 1/2 + 1/2 = 2 :?

    Edit:

    O = red = 1/3
    [] = violette = 1/2
    /\ = green = 2/3
    X = blue = 1/2

    I've just seen a bug in my list (or Sony's ad). On the green advert, the square symbol should be 2/3 like all the other symbols on the green ad, but it's actualy only 1/2 ... why?

    I think the partial symbols are intended simply as a cool visual that activates our recognition of the PS brand and conveys a high-tech, "futuristic" vibe.

    The half-symbols look like alien hieroglyphics to me.

    Now I get it. There won't be a PS3 this generation. Only PSP. :twisted:

    Anyway, I was actually gonna suggest a similar thought that maybe it's a count down (I watched Predator recently). But I realize those ads are plastered. So I took that idea out. But now is back for consideration. But I still don't have a clue what's the whole "dissolving" could mean if it were infact dissolving.

    I can't wait. But the good new is we only have to wait 27 hours and 55 minutes (posted). That should be another good 2 or so page. The bad news is I don't know a place where to catch the conference live?

    I don't think live coverage has been announced by anyone yet for Sony's conference. Both MS and Sony didn't want live feeds from their conferences, but MS recently changed their minds, and are providing their own live feed now. Hopefully Sony does the same - if not, I'm afraid you'll at best be looking at a delayed picture.

    Seeing things live certainly would be nice..avoids relying on "real-time" text reports from an attendee who might get your hopes up about something you end up thinking is crap (like "OMGWTF IT'S AMAZING!" etc.). Hopefully, though, Sony will issue press releases and material to coincide with the conference (though usually that comes after :( ).

    Thread has been pruned again to try and keep some vague semblance of on-topic-ness.

    You guys need to chill. Five pages already and the show hasn't even started yet! :?

    Besides, I think you've over-analyzed those adverts sufficiently by now. They show the PS button icons, and the "welcom3" hints at both E3 and PS3. Enough already, alright?

    I guess the ads could mean a change in the next gen PS control. The division of the control simbols could mean the division of the control itself (the gloves). Anyone about my thought?

    i think it means that they are getting rid of the regular buttons
    they are dissolving meaning that they are disappearing
    ya know
    no more X, Circle, Square, or Triangle
    and i already figured that the red-e meant that they were Red-E(ready) for (E3) because the E is an e and a 3

    It counts down to E3. Which start on Tuesday, May 17. The Sony conference is tomorrow (Monday) afternoon. But it say May 16 on the PlayStation E3 countdown page because though E3 itself don't officially start on the 16th, Sony starts their E3 program tomorrow.

    19 hours and 2 minutes to go.
