Ori and the Blind Forest [XO, NX]

Played it for about an hour... WOW! This game hits you in right spots. The soundtrack is amazing, and the prologue was just a massive feel trip. Only problem for me is that I keep forgetting to save so when I die I'm sent ALL the way back and I have to do that certain section all over again. Saving is definitely important. :yep2:

Obviously I haven't beaten the game yet, but I can tell that this is going to be a STRONG GOTY contender. Unless Bloodborne, MGSV, Witcher 3, or Batman: AK completely tank (which I doubt lol), Ori would definitely be the front runner right now.

The game is simply gorgeous. The art, animation and lighting are some of the nicest I've seen and it definitely hits you right between the feels.

What I love most about the game though, is that for all it's arty-feely-ness the controls are fluid and precise, and there are deep game mechanics at work.

This is how it should be done IMO. Reminds me a lot of Dust, which was also a shining example of how games can be beautiful but don't have to be dumb corridor simulators.

Dust is a great game.

Maybe. I just think the art is so disgustingly saccharine I'm afraid I'll develop a severe case of diabetes over it. From the moment I've seen that yellow, floating squirrel, I just wanted to eviscerate it. I'll gladly take Tingle and the Teletubbies over that fucking thing.

im totally forgot about this game and its only 10 dollars in my country's Steam!!!!!! OMG

Thank you Microsoft for following lots of other Asia publishers in pricing. Unlike that greedy Activision with their crazy prices.

The only game from the current generation that I feel compelled to complete, utterly captivating gaming experience with some of the highest production values seen in a long time, stunning.
I gotta agree. I was addicted to the game after the prologue, it's so beautiful, gorgeous and it plays so well, it's soooo fun.

Game is really not pulling any punches. Devs gave us autoaim shooting, but they really expect from us [and early on] to be a masters of platforming, puzzle solving and combat. They even mix all those three sometimes.

Game is not easy, but for now that makes her even more appealing. [I arrived yesterday to the "rising water" part]

The pc version is really buggy for me. Fortunately the dev already acknowledge the mess in their Superb game

I still have some time to go before I get there but this is one of those rare games that pulls you in and never lets go!! Plus the story is captivating... and well, the game is a masterpiece. This picture sums up what I think about the story..

Thanks for saving me from springing right now - I'll wait for a patch or two. Fortunately I just grabbed South Park Stick of Truth on Steam (it's on sale this weekend) so I'm not short of something to play!

This game only came onto my radar this morning. Platformers aren't usually my thing but I'm seriously tempted to go for this given the low price. I hear it works well with 3D Vision too which must look incredible.

If you are willing..get it..now.. I am not the best at platformers, but this game is at a whole new level. And it just gets better and better and better. I am quite surprised about the fact that I love it so much, because I don't always like so much the games whose scores are 9 or 10, I get hyped and sometimes in a few cases I wonder what the fuss was all about.

When it comes to Ori and the Blind Forest I got addicted from the get go. The game is building some culture around it too, with people wanting to achieve the ultimate challenge, an achievement that nobody pulled off, completing the game without losing a single life.

The only way I see it possible is saving and reloading from the main menu from where you saved. Plus, you can copy and paste save files on both the PC and Xbox One. Ah, if you have the Xbox One controller use it to play this game..

So I picked it up and so far I'm really impressed. Gorgeous looking game with a beautiful soundtrack and compelling gameplay. The opening is indeed emotional but I've not progressed more than about 20 mins past that at the moment. Technically the game is a masterpiece. I've not encountered any bugs so far (on PC) and I'm running at around a 75fps average (there's absolutely no need for vsync in this game) at 1440p in stereoscopic 3D. You can't really ask for much more than that on a measly 670! The 3D for it's part is good, but not perfect (like Trine 2). There's nothing overtly wrong with it, it just feels like quite a strain on the eyes. Worth it though for the incredible immersion is gives.

Really looking forward to playing more of this tomorrow.

On my pc the shoulder button can't be detected, the game stutters stutters, jaggies on character, jarring 30 fps character animation while everything else 60 fps, annoying full-screen alt tab bug, did not support multiple screen, weird surround sound support, etc

Have not tried in 3D but most object are a real 3D obhrctobject and layered. So I think it will be as beautiful as trine. Too bad there's no internal 3D support

Man, I feel envious. I wish they add support to stereoscopic 3D on the Xbox One too, the game deserves it, and I haven't played a 3D stereoscopic game in a while..

I don't know about the rest -what are the specs of your PC? The game looks fine on the X1 so the PC version should look better-... but the problem with the controller buttons on the PC version is a known issue with some non Xbox controllers.

In that case you just need an utility called DS4Windows, connect your PS4 gamepad to the PC and check de Hide DS box.

just got to the area where you can "climb" walls. Does the whole game will be like this? re-visiting the same area again again again again and again to reach previously unreachable areas?

its starting to feels like destiny all over again :(

@Cyan
yeah i am using DS4W. I fixed it by binding shoulder button to keyboard button lol :D
now i need to extract the game assets, edit the button icons, and repack it.

btw the dev explained that the stutter is because the streaming did not well optimized. The whole "section" need to be loaded instantly, thus the game stutters. Unfortunately they say 30 FPS problem is not really fix-able. Because its how the game has been designed originally as X360 game. Although they consider adding "motion interpolation".

almost forgot. Because the game is running on 60 fps while the sprites that is 30 fps, it may confuses some TV motion interpolation. My samsung TV did not look any better motion with "smooth" mode :(

Unfortunately the game doesn't officially support 3D, it's just the Nvidia driver version. And it's not perfect. It's crtainly playable but ther ar a few lightin effects which look a little weird. It's certainly a compromise but on balance I thing the addess immersion the 3D brings is worth it.

I assume the XBO version is running at 1080p/60fps? The game is vry light on requirements. I'd be suprised if he XBO couldn't handle the same in 3D as well if it had been supported.

I'm currently stuck insofar as I seem to hv explored the limits of the world which is currently accessable to me. There are plenty of ways out of this area according to the map but my current abilities don't seem to allow me to reach them. Clearly I'm missing something so I'll keep plugging away but the point is that yes, I've now revisited virtually every area of the map that I've opened at least once!

It's not taking away from it though, I'm still really enjoying the game - in fact Ican't wait to go and have another go at working out what I've missed.

Interesting, are you getting regular/constant stutter? I see the occational stutter (every 5 mins or so) but I figured that's because I'm pushing the engine so hard with 1440p + 3D. It's still butter smooth most of the time (an unlocked 75fps average) but I can get it up past 300fps with only 1080p and no 3D.

I must admit, I've not even noticed this being a problem, perhaps now that you've mentioned it, I will.

Yeah it's almost constant stutter on Windows 7 but only on "new scene" on Windows 10. My pc is as old as an toaster but it runs games (watch dogs, battlefield, etc) well.

Btw the game also runs on my windows 8 tablet without stutter, although in around 2/3 speed (slow motion).

Maybe a bug on Windows 7.
