OPM's Lair and Factor 5 article

I just hope that this will not be like a star wars game instead of flying a spaceship you fly with your dragon, that can become boring pretty fast.

The other thing I would like to say is that it will be nice to see whether all those cool effects will also be shown during gameplay, not that they will not be there, but there are so many things that look so cool in tech demos but during gameplay you hardly even pay attention to it or notice it...

Truth hurts e???

I know that we must all live in this twilight zone where sequels to warhawk, killzone, getaway and games from the developers of the rogue leader games and kung fu chaos(which is a horrible game) are supposed to make us go gaga,so i am sorry if i offended anyone.

I still remember how sony fans were blastin kung fu chaos screaming about its "bad art"(just like every MS-published title basically) and ridiculing it on every forum on the net.

Oh and factor 5 was a lucasarts developer and was never a 2nd party for nintendo. The fact that lucasarts released the factor 5 games exclusively on nintendo systems has nothing to with factor 5 being a second party develper.Companies like rare and silicon knights were nintendo's second party.

I remember this aswell.

And for one brief moment DOA became the hottest fighting game around when people thought it was coming to PS3. Funny how things work aye? ;)

How can every1 say that Lair will be outdated when its comes out when all we have seen is a video showing a bunch of dragons and very little else.

who said that? All I saw was someone trying to compare Lair to PD0 for some stupid reason.

Exactly.

I really have no problem(in fact i am greatly anticipating) with games from the good sony teams like Insomniac,Naughty Dog,Polyphony and more but it really makes me sick watching people drooling over factor 5 and guerrila and asking how "MS missed NT" when the same people were hating kung fu chaos. It's also funny that they get offended when you remind them what games these teams have made in the past.

Some of you find this and that "funny" but then why do ya'll sound so bitter..? If the PS3 is going to be showing better looking games then I'm all for it. I hope this game is going to totally blow me away!

Second Party simply means an exclusive developer that isn't fully owned, whether by partial ownership or some other agreement.

Factor 5 was second party to Nintendo, and are now second party to Sony.

Sounds good. Looks better.
Wonder what Factor5's other PS3 title will end up being. New franchise too I hope.

Most of your shit is funny fulcizombie, but you try too hard.

No. I remember people crowing because they thought the Xbox had lost an exclusive (much crowing over FFXI on X360 too and dismissing of the series in general before that - only FF really is important). The PS3 already has Tekken and VF amongst many, which are generally attributed as the two dominant and superior franchises.

No. I remember...

Are you telling him that he didn't see what he saw? How do you know what he describes didn't happen somewhere? Your description would be just as valid.

i dont mind lair-quite the contrary; graphically, its stunning, from what i've seen-but christ...dragons? I just cant see a game being exceptional when it's focused on aerial dragon fights. Judging from their history, it could turn into some arcadey shooter which, instead of X-wings, allows the player to control fire-breathing dragons....if thats the case then....well, at least the PS3 will have a showpiece come launch.

Which is why i hope that there will be more to it than that...

There was a game years ago on the PC, which I remember playing around 1990-91, which had simple 3D graphics, and was a game of riding dragons, and fighting on them. It was an awesome game, and it gave a wonderful feeling of riding a dragon into battle. The perspective was from behind the dragon. Anyone know this game?

I would not be so quick to say this game could not work or not be fun, simply because there has been very few games offering this.

He didn't tell me what he saw in the first place, he told me what happened. I dispute that ever took place, yes.

To wit I wonder how A) Nintendo allowed Factor 5 to disappear from their 1/2nd party dev rolls and B) How did MS who is in dire need of gungho top rate dev teams to push their platform didnt pick up Ninja Theory and Factor 5 from the get go...

MS makes strange decisions....

I guess MS had a choice between a single game (Lair) or 3 games (Too Human) and decided 3 exclusives were better than 1.

Factor 5 is really good at visuals. I think for Rouge leader they did it in 9 months with about 20 people. Now they have 100 and should have been working on this game for around 12-18 moths as they started before they got devkits. So this as a launch title could mean very much for the first visual encounter with PS3 for people not so much into tech etz.

Note that I purposely did NOT place GG in the same category as factor 5 and NT:idea: .

I have a gamecube and F5 makes quite nice games both technically and visually. Also if MS saw in motion what we have seen of HS, how could they NOT follow up on their committment to this team..? ts visuals and play mechanics (AFAWK) is the stuff of legends! Much like God of War on PS2.

I may be a graphics whore to some degree but... really, honestly, and truly, graphics are what virtually defines "next-gen" at first blush.... Gameplay keeps a game next gen ;)

Perhaps they already had that style of game filled by NNN? I don't know the specifics about either one, but they seem comparable at first blush.

sorry but I still think Kung Fu Chaos has bad art and Rogue Leader sucks. These games are hardly the PS3 showcase games. They only happen to be just another exclusive.

Graphically speaking though Factor 5 puts out some impressive games. I bought both of their Gamecube games just for the graphics and I'll probably do the same with Lair.
