OMG nVidia havent launched G70 yet..

First reply on that thread:
That is a lowball trick if it is right. This is why I buy last-gen cards becuase of scandals like this.
Just one word: wow. And, well, ROFL.

I think some people were unimpressed by the performance of 7800 so they want to believe that there is a true next generation coming on. I can imagine their frustration when they see what R520 is made of. People's expectations rised impossibly high I think. This is all R300's fault.

is it accurate to say the 'true' next gen g card 'leap' will be along with the release of vista/dx10 standard? that should be a 'leap' shouldn't it? as least capabilitywise.

Unfortunately the only story actually exists in the oriignal posters head, it is a consiracy theory not a news story.

The sad thing is that it took so long in the thread to get quashed and people did not throw in more questions earlier.

XS people are very good at overclocking and getting the most out of what they have, but when it comes to the theoretical side rather than the practical side they tend not to be as knowledgeble as people here on video cards for instance. A lot of that is down to them spending more time hands on than reading

I'm not being too harsh on them as I have been there since Aug 2002 and it's my home and I luv it, but i do realise where our specialities lie, and it is not in "news" story's like that.

Well ppl unconsciously might be still thinking that the r520 is comming to the market with 24 & 32pp and overkill the g70 ... at least thats my general impression. Would'v been possible (r520 overkill the g70) if ati didnt had problems with yields and consecutive revisions and sucessfully marketed the 24&32pp r520 with the current expected clocks of 600&1.4Ghz 1.26ns GDDR3. But so far my expectations are that it will be on pair with the g70 as the 6800 is to the x800.
r600 might be(and more) what the r520 failed to ati initial expectations/plans.
