Could you even fathom what PS4 will be capable of? I mean really, we are talking about FF the movie quality graphics in real time no doubt.

With racing games you would not be able to tell the difference between the game and real life, I suppose this might even happen with ps3.. Or DANGEROUSLY close to it.

A metal gear solid game that mimics FFTM graphics.. Really I just could not imagine it at all.

10+Ghz Cell2 processor

4GB fastest RD ram

300GB hdd

300 billion polygons per second

at least 100 TFLOPs maybe 200 TFLOPs

10-40 Ghz Cell2 with 512-1024 APUs

4-8 GB fastest ram (RD or not)

300-500 billion polygons or equivalent of whatever primative is used then.

Yea I was just thinking my TFLOPS rating was pretty low, after all ps2 GFLOPS to ps3 is 166 times. And you gotta figure ps3 to ps4 there will be a lethargic leap so say 200X.

Yea, 150-200TFLOPS system.

Pfft, I couldn't even imagine or fathom that basically. That's 5 times the power of our most powerfull computers on earth in another 7-8 years.

Haha imagine developers doing 6GB worth of textures and junk per frame? Nuts.

Oh and as megadrive said guys, JUST FOR FUN is all this. I put an emphasis on that.

BTW, more than graphics I wish this...

Fighting: Environments should be COMPLETELY destructible! How about fighting (Tekken 6??) on a High Speed Freeway where cars are zooming past you....

Action/Adven: Games like MGS/SH/GTA/MP/SC will benefit most....imagine Max Payne- New York with people on the roads....
 
well, let's see... as an example.

take GT2 for PS1. at the time it was probably the best racing game on any console right... and Tekken3 had probably the best character models on PS1.

now look at GT:vice city for ps2. the cars alone are already much better looking than the best car models on PS1 and the environments are just another planet, being completely free-roaming. the characters models are also better looking than the best character models ps1 could display in a fighting game, where the only thing displayed IS the model.

now, if we take the same example and port it over to PS3. we have GT4 which is probably (actually, take the "probably" off) the best looking racing game at least on ps2. and let's take VF4:EVO as the example for best character models... or SH3...

on PS3 we will have a Grand Theft Auto game (or any game of that genre)with cars that look superior to the ones in GT4, completed by environments far superior to any game out now... AND the tens of characters walking around the city will be more detailed than today's characters in VF4 or SH3....

And prospects look great esp in Fighting genre...! Everything will be destructible....there will new seamless fighting arenas...if your punch misses and strikes a pole....pole will be demolished (considering your fighters are superhumans a la Tekken)....similarly in Soul Caliber will feature fight something like Reloaded....

anyway, i think what he meant is that he wants grass to look and react like real grass, not just be a grass-looking texture stuck to a flat polygon

There is already destructable wall in VF4.

Also, in many old 2D beatm up too, I might add.

One that did well was Samurai Shodown
 
There are better uses for polyons than grass.
A blade of grass is more or less flat, so a single polygon with grass texture does the job.
MGS3 has some nice grass that bends under Snake.

Grass would be best done with a fur shader or something, next gen machines should be more than capable for that.
