Play the demo? Read the glowing reviews? Post opinions here!

I personally haven't played the demo, but I've had NG4 pre-ordered practically since it was announced. Heck, I.. like many of you.. have been waiting since 1991 for this game. :) Anywho, the reviews so far are calling it fan-freaking-tastic. I can't wait!

Yeah, Team Ninja really gets it when it comes to game design... Gaiden is one of the few action titles that lets you control the way you want to control and has the polish it takes to pull that off.

Running up and jumping off walls and attacking with melee or missile assaults are executed gracefully and adeptly so that each action is quick and responsive, and you're rarely left fighting the controls or the controller. This game realizes the 3D beat-em-up very well - you can fight a group of enemies that surround you without awkward lock-on mechanics or the inability to stay mobile (something which plagues the genre).

The camera is the only imperfection here, and I can't figure why developers of 3D beat-em-ups just don't pull the camera out to give view of the general active area and then keep it relatively stationary. Still, the auto-seeking attacks Gaiden gives you always keeps you close enough to the focus to be extremely playable.

You know, the game is good. The game is damn good, it beats my expectations in almost every way and it can be difficult at times too. This game reaffirms my faith in Tecmo after DOA3. It's like they took the DOA3 engine and pumped it up much more, put in some awesome and refreshing gameplay, and added substance. Need I say the levels themselves are gorgeous?

Heh, they might as well since Tecmo has been making all of their big-name games for the Xbox.

Even their PS2 games (Fatal Frame) end up on the 'Box.

Not really. Fatal Frame 2, Rygar, Monster Rancher, Gallop Racer are all PS2 only.

They actually make more PS2 games than games for other platforms, but some of these games never even see the light of day outside of Japan.

It's actually their Team Ninja studio that doesn't make anything but Xbox games anymore. They did make DOA2 for Dreamcast and PS2, though, but that was before Xbox was out.

I hope the final version is better than the Demo, it has one of the worst cameras every.. am I the only one who finds it painful and repetive?

I thought Maskrider had the Xbox version of Fatal Frame 2...

Initial impressions:

Graphics: Very clean, great models, very solid textures.. and a good art style. I like it.

Sound: Very fitting. The music, the sound effects.. everything is solid and very much fitting.

Gameplay: Very very fast, with satisfying Soul Calibur-esque swordfighting. I like the level design so far, and the movement.. while loose.. is easy to get used to. The camera does have some problem keeping up, though.

So far, I like it a lot. Yes, the first boss handed my ass to me.. but I'm still mastering the controls. The first time through, I was a weakling.. a fighting slob against the opposition. My second go-round (after not saving and losing at the boss) I had an easier time as I ran circles around my formerly equal foes. ;) Much like Viewtiful Joe, combat in this game can be mighty satisfying.

i'm lost in the first level :)
i just played for 20 minutes tough
grafix: nice but not to say perfect ..

controls: quite nice but jumping and salto is not so perfect
it would have been nice if you could break off a high jump on wall just before he backflips

sound: very cool sound and music . big thumbs up

what i really hate about this game is the camera , they should have put more time in this (yes even more time :) )

Had been playing too much Shadow Hearts II and haven't checked the threads too often, I have X-BOX and PS2 version of FF, but FF2 is currently only on PS2.

BTW, the Asian version (official) of Ninja Gaiden was released a day or two ago but I hadn't have the time to go and get it.

Ninja Gaiden is fun, but frustrating (in a rewarding, satisfying way). Sounds like the reviewer couldn't seperate the two.

I'm only ~3-4 hours in, but I think I still prefer the original Devil May Cry for my high intensity action fix, but Ninja Gaiden is Really Good. Perhaps once I pick up some more weapons and finally master the controls it'll surpass DMC...

That review is groundless because it's based upon some inaccuracies and misconceptions. It criticizes that the character Ryu has nowhere near the amount of technique he has in the Dead or Alive fighting game series, which is illogically comparing an action game to a fighting game to begin with. It's also factually incorrect as Ryu's move list and ability to attack, defend, and counter in Ninja Gaiden is more than comparable to DOA3.

It characterizes the action as repetitive and button-mashing, with only "3 or 4 canned combos" for you to use, despite not backing up its implication that the battle possibilities are either few or largely ineffective. It makes this characterization also despite that Ninja Gaiden's combat engine allows for one of the most extensive amounts of technique there's been in the action genre.

I have get passed that Monastery (beaten that pink female daemon), with the help of EvoX RemoteX debugger to modify the memory data. (or else it will take me ages to get pass even the first level)

Ninja Gaiden is pretty hard to casual gamers like me, and the camera does cause some hassles during the course of gameplay to me, unlike the short demo that I've played.
