Obesity nearly as deadly as tobacco in United States

I think we should not forget, what has been demonstrated scientifically for more than half a century. That organisms under properly reduced but nutritious intake, experience an increase in resistance to virtually all diseases, and maintain muscle mass throughout advance age, the quality of the muscle also remains akin to that of a young organisms... Their mental abilities appear prolonged indefinitely, and their tissues tend to be more resistance to a myriad of toxins, and capable of withstanding periods with lack of oxygen with far less damage.

One trend I've noticed in this thread is the emphasis on cardio-vascular activities as exercise. And while that's great, resistance training is also extremely important, both for health reasons and for maintaining the physique you want.

From nutriotinists ive talked too, the general idea is you want to eat small intakes often and balanced between carbs/protein/fiber/vegetable oils. Say 5 times a day

The idea is to keep your metabolism going at all times, while limiting the net amount of calories to a reasonable level.

Most foods are high in carbs in the US, so restricting carbs just a little bit is usually a good idea to mantain the reasonable 25% (say cut out the deserts). Exercise is of course crucial, weight lifting to increase inner muscle (speeds up metabolisms) and cardio/sports to burn calories.

Theres probably a strong genetic component to metabolisms realistically. I've been 6'1 180 for over 7 years. I eat like a pig, whenever I want (including deserts) and pay little attention to diet. Often I go for decent periods of time without any sort of sports or martial arts (hobby of mine).

I see friends who do the same thing, and they gain 30 pounds after they stop doing sports.

Sorry... but... I'm italian but what is a Milano cookie?
The English speaking world just LOVES giving italian names to things, which either do not exist in Italy or have a different name there...

Like Pasta Bolognaise... And i'm from Bologna! Makes me cringe everytime i hear the name...

Picked up some NyQuil for the wifey the other day (Monday or Tuesday) and of course the god damn grocery store just had to have a Krispy Kreme stand right in the middle of the aisle. I resisted the temptation but it's been on my mind all week now.
