Nvidia Geforce Drivers Release Announcement thread

572.42 just came out for Avowed and Indy Jones.
I installed this and my PC hardlocked toward the end of the installation. Had to hard reset. The computer came right back up and the driver appeared to have installed correctly. I reinstalled it anyway and everything seems fine 🤞. This is the first hardlock I've had in about 2 years, since I stopped using my faulty old GPU.

anyone else having weird occasional cursor corruption with the 572.42 drivers?

didnt get that, but SDXL image generation became slower.

to be fair, SDXL image generation speed has been going up and down almost every new driver.

Yeah, after retweaking my undervolt settings with the new drivers, my 4090 has been just fine. Most of the instability I found was in RT/PT games with DLSS enabled using the new Transformer "K" model. I am left to assume all the new, extra workload on the tensor cores exhibits enough additional load to make my prior "stable" undervolt actually not so stable as I thought.

I still have a nagging instability in Space Engineers, even while running 100% stock GPU settings (volts, speeds, etc.) I think somehow it's related to VRAM and I"m wondering if a recent game update may actually be the culprit there.

Anyone else getting this after installing the last 2 Nvidia drivers from the Nvidia app?

Doesn't seem like it's actually affecting anything performance-wise though in any games 🤷‍♂️

Fwiw, I twice discovered over the last several months that since I have the nVidia app installed, I need to include that and all its dependencies when installing new drivers. I use NVCleaninstall, and being a creature of habit, I first use WinRAR to extract the drivers to a folder and then point NVCleaninstall to that. So your mileage may vary. But as an experiment today I tried not reinstalling the nVidia app, while not uninstalling it first either, and I ended up with an error message at the end of the install process saying the new driver install had failed. After doing things the new regular way, it succeeded.

You've got the message most likely because of the way you've been installing the driver previously. If you'd be doing it in the "regular way" instead of all this unnecessary mambo jambo with WinRAR and all it would install just fine most likely.

A bit of discussion to what I alluded to here:
I don't want to be tedious by restating, or amplifying on, anything.

so ymmv if they change something with the driver, you are in unsupported territory
