I see more a push of the main jap devs behind the GC to make it a good 2nd platform behind the playstation.

Silicon Knights is developing the new MGS game, under the eyes of Kojima and Miyamoto.
The game will follow the story of the first MGS.
it will not be a remake, but a retelling of the events from two
different standpoints, that of Solid and Liquid Snake(where the title
Twin Snakes comes from).
its also possible there will be coop play involved.

I'm very disappointed. It's a remake of a game I never undestrood the hype about.

Then even if it would of been a new MGS, you would of been disapointed either way, MGS its MGS, MGS2 is much like MGS and MGS3 will be much like MGS/MGS2.

Look for another franchise if it doesnt appeal to you, but saying you're disapointed? bullshit.

Well what about Tales of Symphonia, Baiten Kaitos exclusive from namco? Or Virtua Fighter Quest and BH&TGE, And who knows about Square-enix, im sure there's something planned after FFCC, thats pretty sure. There's also the FFXII director that hinted that the GBA's FFTA would connect to FFXII, now unless you find a way to connect GBA to ps2.. (of course, that one wont be exclusive, FF is too big for one platform, unless nintendo are insanely lucky and got the deal but i doubt it)

I'm liking what I've seeing from Nintendo and 3rd-parties now. They started slow with the mending of wounds from the N64 fiasco.. but things are happening. About the game itself: Personally, I think MGS2 was all but totally eclipsed by Splinter Cell gameplay-wise.. but MGS eclipsed MGS2 IMO. A "rebirth" of MGS with Miyamoto, Kojima, and Production Value Knights on-board is heavenly for a stealth fan. I think I just might pre-order this title.
