New Xbox 360s include HDMI

I think there are some dongles on e-bay if people want to go that route for now.
I'm not going to pay for an over priced dongle. As someone else said,I might just use the component cable dongle, assuming it works that way. I don't care how it looks.

half of the people buying consoles this gen don't even know they are capable of hiDef.

so my tv must be pretty good (rather than broken) considering I can't tell the difference on my screen. Both sources look equally excellent there is just more saturation in my component.

Now, the Digital Foundry HD capture machine is extraordinarily precise - far more accurate than any consumer monitor has any need to be. So the real question revolves around how good your display is. Typically, cheaper HDTVs and flat panels work better with digital (converting analogue signals back to digital can be a tricky business), whereas you'll be hard-pressed to notice the difference between component and HDMI on a good screen.

For consumers sake i'd rather they just stuck with what they have decided upon. If i was a guy who bought a Premium 360 i would be quite upset right now that suddenly my "Premium" isn't worth it. Elite was one thing, fine, i'll give them that one, even though they didn't even add a hd-dvd drive into it and it was supposed to be their "Technophile" version. Which i guess would have been pointless anyway since hd-dvd doesn't seem to have the traction of Blu-Ray and not usefull for games according to Microsoft*.

Sorry for ranting, the 360 is no doubt a good console, but these kinds of buisness decisions really just seem so stupid to me. It would just make me hold off on a 360 because frankly i wouldn't know what was next for it.

*I don't remember where i read it on these boards but they specifically said games would not be released on the hd-dvd medium.

If you bought it two weeks before, then yeah, you may feel a bit peeved (even though, notionally there is no difference - they both play games in HD!), however most premium owners have had HD gaming for up to 20 months beforehand, which they wouldn't have had otherwise. These types of changes are par for the course for a console.

Ah, well that made me less confused hehe

Obviously it's not that big of a deal, but it makes me wonder where they will stop. HD looks marginally better on HDMI as seen in the Eurogamer comparison. I'm just annoyed at it, Mostly because it makes me think of it going the way of Vista

MS is now selling an HDMI cable with the audio adapter built in(just like the component cables, not a seperate AAC like in the Elite) for $59.99 CDN.
Edit: So effectively the price of a Premium 360 with HDMI, if you want to use DD5.1,is $460. ;(

Well, I feel a bit cheated... As an early adopter I was kind of expecting this, but I just can't get that feeling out my head...
